Question of the Week! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to reply to this email with any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you!

This week's question, "It's about time to head out to see the fall colors! Where are your favorite spots to view the fall foliage?"

Last week's question, "It is perfect hiking weather in the Smokies! What are some of your favorite fall hikes?"

J.R. says, "There are so many great trails to hike that it is hard to pick just one. I guess if I would pick a favorite it would be Mt. LeConte by way of Alum cave. This is one of the prettiest trails in the mountains. I will say that I have not found any hikes that I didn't like."

J.D. writes, "The Smokies are my favorite place in the whole world and picking my favorite Fall hiking place is a challenge because there are so many awesome places.  My wife and I came there last Fall and these were our top five.  Number one has to be the Chimney Tops Trail: The vibrant, colorful leaves overhanging the river at the start of the trail, those spreading away on both sides of the trail and the breath-taking view from the top makes the top is incredible.  The drive around the loop at Cades Cove was like meandering through a living portrait painted by the very hand of God.  The Cascades Trail at Tremont and the ride getting to it left us feeling truly blessed indeed. The drive through the park all the way to Clingman's Dome was just out of this world with amazing, panoramic view of color-laden mountain slopes looking as if a great, colorful and beautiful mosaic patchwork quilt had been laid across them.  Last, but surely not least are a combined recommendation of Dollywood, Wears Valley and virtually anywhere one can look while in the Smokies in the Fall.  My wife and I hope to move there soon and make Smoky Mountain views the first thing we see outside our cabin each and every day for the rest of our lives. I am a carpenter / christian-fiction author and nothing inspires creativity more than the Smokies, especially in the Fall. May God always bless you, all of your readers and the Great Smoky Mountains!"

Fall Colors in Pigeon Forge!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The experts are predicting this fall to produce exceptional colors due to the this year's weather patterns.  Mother Nature has given us perfect spring, summer and current fall weather to make this leaf season both colorful and long! Currently in the Smokies and surrounding mountains, you will find good leaf color above 4,000 feet in red maples, yellow birch and American beech. At lower elevations there is good color among the sourwoods, black gum, sassafras and birch trees, especially on the dry ridges. The peak colors are still predicted for the lower elevations around the last 2 weeks of October.
New to Pigeon Forge Winterfest!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Winterfest is officially less than one month away!  We can't believe it's almost time for the parkway to be decked out in Christmas lights again!  We do have a new addition to this year's Pigeon Forge winterfest, a parade honoring America's veterans.  This is a new element to the November 8 kickoff for Pigeon Forge Winterfest.  The parade will serve as an early salute to Veterans Day that will take place later on that week on November 11.  Gatlinburg will still have their annual Veteran's Day celebration at Ripley's Aquarium on the 11th.
