This week's question, "When visiting the Smoky Mountains what is your favorite activity? Hiking, camping, tubing, ect. and why?
Last week's question, "Pigeon Forge has great shopping! Where are some of your favorite places to shop when you're in town?"
Amy writes, "No doubt my favorite place to shop is just outside Pigeon Forge at the Sevierville Tanger Outlet. What more could a girl ask for?? There are so many great shops at the outlets. I can find things for myself, children and husband. Sometimes I think my husband enjoys it as much as I do, but he'd never admit it. We usually go to Tanger at least once a year, even if it is just a day out with the girls, but we'd better be ready for some hardcore shopping. I love Tanger!"
Jane says, "Everytime we visit Pigeon Forge, I always go to two shops; The Christian Book Warehouse and Bon Worth. Great buys at both, sales or discount prices, friendly, helpful staff, parking almost at the door, "get your money's worth". I've purchased many items at both places and enjoyed them more when I arrived home. To wear an outfit or read an exciting book really goes wonders for me."
Carolyn writes, "Some of our favorite places to shop in Pigeon Forge are The Incredible Christmas Place, Old Mill Square, Tanger Outlet Mall, and VF Outlet Store. We do most of our Christmas shopping while in town in early November and also do some shopping on some of our other visits to the Smokies each year. We enjoy the wonderful variety of items from which to choose and the many shops and stores in which to shop."
Debbie says, "I always have to go to The Smoky Mountain Cat House in Pigeon Forge. Being a cat lover myself I enjoy not only seeing the eclectic array of cat themed gift & decorative items, but I love visiting with the resident kitties as well. It's right across mill st & down the road from the Old Mill."

| Dolly Auctions Her Bed to Benefit Foundation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Dolly Parton is auctioning her personal king-sized bed from her Dollywood apartment to benefit the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation. The bed went on auction on eBay.com on Thursday, June 30 and will be sold prior to the annual fundraising event for the foundation, Evening of Elegance, on August 13 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Dolly has autographed two of the pillowcases in a set of king-sized white lace-trimmed sheets. The bed also comes with the bedspread, ruffle, three standard-sized pillow shams and three sets of curtains with valances, all custom made items in light pink. | Elkmont Resorations

 In 2010 the National Park Service took on a restoration project to restore 19 structures in Elkmont. The Appalachian Clubhouse was the first building to be fully restored and was completed in June, 2011. The clubhouse was restored from the ground up with the crumbling foundation repaired and strengthened. They even brought in wood cut from Douglas Fir trees, just like the original clubhouse. The wood floors were restored, the original screens remain on the porch and there are more than a dozen windows that were either restored or rebuilt. Gas logs were installed in the two stone fireplaces and with no central air or heat only ceiling fans. The original kitchen will be used as a historic display with the original sink, oil-skin covered work space and wood shelving are still in place. You can now rent out the clubhouse for a day from April 1 - November 15.
