| Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to reply to this email with any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you!
This week's question, "It's officially summer! What is your favorite summer outdoor activity?"
Last week's question, "There are so many options to choose from when planning your Pigeon Forge trip, which is your go-to, a hotel or cabin?"
Jeannette writes, "When we come to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg we like to stay in a cabin. We like a cabin better, because we like the peace & quiet that a cabin has after a day of visiting in Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg. I always get a cabin that has a pool table in it, my boys love to play pool. I also enjoy relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day. It has been a year since we have been able to come to Tennessee, but I hope we can get back there next spring sometime."
Vickie says, "I love the cabins, especially the ones that are back into the mountains away from everything, so you can get back to nature. Would be nice if some of them had outside pools for summer, but I usually visit Pigeon Forge in fall or winter, need to try summer sometime."
Joe and Sonya write, "Hands down the valley forge inn is where we stay every time we come down. It is affordable, clean, they are friendly and helpful and they have a indoor and outdoor pool. It's right beside the comedy barn and walking distance to everything."
Phyllis says, "My favorite place to stay is definitely a cabin. We first started visiting the area in the early 90's, and having stayed in a motel on the river, we were drawn back next year (and brought along corn) simply to feed the ducks. The next year we rented a cabin and stayed up on the mountain and discovered a beautiful view. We were hooked on the area by then, and after a few years of high up on the mountain, we decided convenience would be better, and we discovered "Eagle Ridge Resort". Since we have gotten a little older, and we still love to visit Pigeon Forge and Sevierville, we have rented cabins in Wears Valley, and other closer areas, and just visited in May and stayed in another cabin. Only complaint, and although we received a free night, watch out for those hidden fees - such as reservation fees, cleaning fees, hot tub fees, pet fees, etc. But I still love the area and the people, will continue to visit as long as my health permits, and will stay in a cabin!!"
| Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales 6th Year!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales started last Friday and will continue every day in downtown Gatlinburg through August 13. Tunes and Tales is a summer-long street performance event that features costumed musical performers, storytellers and artisans portraying time periods as far back as the 1800's. Smoky Mountain heritage will be celebrated every day during Tunes and Tales. Gatlinburg is the birthplace of "Rocky Top" so it is only fitting that Tunes and Tales features traditional bluegrass bands each night. Daily at 6:00 pm in the center of town various storytellers, musicians and crafters will line the parkway for lots of entertainment and storytelling until 11:00 pm. Be sure to check it out this summer in downtown Gatlinburg! All performances are free.

| Lumberjack Feud Opens this August!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Lumberjack Feud is the next big thing opening in Pigeon Forge! You can find them on Smoky Drive and they're planning on a mid-August opening. The Lumberjack Feud will be a dinner show where you will be assigned to one of the two feuding lumberjack families. The competition will begin centered on the back story where the two families are the last logging clans left in the Smoky Mountains. They only have a short time before their timbering days are over with the formation of the Great Smoky Mountains. The families decide to fight it out to see who gets the last of the logs. Every part of the show will be composed of things that actual loggers would do. The guys who will be competing are true competitors. They are all world class lumberjack athletes and truly want to win. This makes the feud that much more realistic!
