| Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to email us any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you!
This week's question, "Fall and Winter are both beautiful seasons in Pigeon Forge, do you prefer the fall foliage or the Winterfest lights?"
Last week's question, "Have you ever been to a haunted house or ghost tour in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg? Were you scared?"
Linda writes, "We were in Gatlinburg a couple years ago in October. I took my (then) 10 year old daughter through the haunted mansion. She was so petrified that when we just got up to the second floor, I had to look down over the balcony and ask the ticket taker if we could leave. We did.....and have shared this story many times over the years with her friends. Now they all want to go see it!!"
Helen says, "Yes my children and I went through the Haunted Mansion located on River Road, we had a blast after we figured the way into the Mansion we had a lot of fun, a great place to get scared." |
| Fall Foliage Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beautiful fall colors in the Smokies! The leaves in the higher elevations, above 3,000 feet, are currently at their peak. In the lower elevations there is a lot of color change, but we won't be at the peak for another week or so. Tom Harrington of the Great Smoky Mountain Association suggests the peak in the lower elevations will be around October 18 - 24. Check out what it looks like today on the National Park Service's webcam! The Blue Ridge Parkway is a great scenic drive to enjoy the fall foliage, the Huffington Post actually even named the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the "Most Scenic Drives in the U.S." Also, if you're looking for things to do in the Smokies this fall, or even something you may not know about. Check out our list of 20 things to do this fall! The Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is also going on through the rest of October, so make sure you check it out before it's too late!

Blue Ridge Parkway One of Ten Most Scenic Drives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Huffington Post recently wrote an article on the "10 Most Scenic Roads in the U.S." The Blue Ridge Parkway landed on the list at number 9. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the North Carolina side of the Smoky Mountains and has some amazing views of the beautiful mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway winds through 469 miles of beautiful forest and mountain terrain between Shenandoah National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The scenery is outstanding and there are many recreational activities to do along the way; picnic area, hiking trails, camp grounds and visitor centers are just a few. There are also restaurants and lodging along Blue Ridge Parkway.
