Question of the Week,

Last Week's Question, "With fall quickly approaching, what is your favorite way to enjoy the fall foliage?"

Carolyn writes, "Our favorite way to enjoy the fall foliage is to come to the Great Smoky Mountains each year.  We always arrive during the first week of November.  This allows us to enjoy the last of the fall color and to also enjoy all of the Christmas lights and decorations of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and also Dollywood.  During this time the weather is mild, the crowds are down, and the mountains are beautiful."

Richard says, "We usually come up to enjoy the leaves and ride thru cades cove a couple times while were in the area for a few days  coming up on the 23rd of September to see Leroy Van Dyke, Mo Bandy and Rex Allen Jr, at Country Tonite Theater and spend a couple days in Pigeon Forge just relaxing."
Grand Fall Rod Run
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This year the Grand Fall Rod Run will take place September 16 - 19.  The Grand Rod Run is brought to you by MCS Promotions and the Grand Hotel and Convention Center will be hosting the event.  There will be many cars and vendors lining both sides of the Parkway. For those who have cars to enter, there will be awards for the top overall 25 cars and for the ultimate 5 cars.  Then, to send you home in style, on Sunday MCS Promotions will be giving away $10,000 of cash prizes.  These will be given to various showcar entries.  The prizes will be given away in increments of $500, $100, $1,000 and a grand prize of $2,000.
If you've never attended a Pigeon Forge Car Show, you should definitely try to check out this year's Grand Rod Run!  Read more about the Pigeon Forge Car Shows and you can also check out images from the Spring Rod Run
Taste of Autumn Hosts Legendary Motown Entertainers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Appearing for one night only, September 23, at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, the Taste of Autumn presents the Temptations Revue featuring A Tribute by Nate Evans!  The main entertainment for the event is a musical tribute to the Temptations starring Nate Evans, who began performing with original vocalists David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards and Eddie Kendricks.  Throughout the show Evans shares not only his talents but also his memories of working with the group's original members. Along with the $25 ticket (children under 7 are free), attendees can also sample unlimited from some of the area's finest restaurants and attractions. A Silent Auction will also be held.  One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Taste of Autumn go to the 2010 United Way of Sevier County Campaign.

Smokies are Still Number One to Us!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As most of you know, Coca-Cola launched the, "America is Your Park" campaign to encourage Americans to get out and take advantage of our National Parks!  They were rewarding the Park with the highest amount of votes a $100,000 recreation grant.  Of course we wanted the Smokies to win but, unfortunately we were passed by Bear Head Lake State Park.  Bear Head won the grant with over 1.6 million votes and The Smoky Mountains came in second place just behind Bear Head. Although the Smokies didn't win, there were a lot of parks across America that have benefited from Coca Cola's fund raising and a thank you goes out to all voters from Coca Cola.
