Cades Cove Re-opens this Weekend! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cades Cove has been closed since March 1 for construction on the 11 mile loop.  This road work is in effort to pave the eroded pull offs which will overall improve traffic flow, so visitors will be able to pull over to view the wildlife.

After  much hard work on the project they are now opening Cades Cove Loop a month sooner than expected.  It will open on April 24 and to recognize the completion of this long-overdue project and National Park Week, the Park is planning two celebratory events. A Field Day has been set for Saturday, April 24, when only bicycles and pedestrians will be permitted on the road until noon. On Sunday morning, April 25, the Park and the Friends of the Smokies are planning a one-time-only "Cades Cove Loop Lope," which will offer pre-registered runners a choice of the full 11 mile loop or a 3.5 mile loop course.
