| Another Rockslide on Newfound Gap Road
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A landslide on the North Carolina side of Newfound Gap road closed the road late Monday night. Crews have been clearing the road to where it is now open, with flaggers on the road to direct cars around the slide. Tuesday they began placing concrete barriers along the road to prevent more debris from falling into the paths of motorists. They will also be constructing a temporary detour with additional barricades and signs to allow two lanes of traffic to move through the parking area. This detour will remain in place until it is determined whether the slide has stabilized or if mechanical debris removal is necessary.
