Question of the Week... "Name that place! What/where is this clip of a photo?" Last week's question, "Will anyone be visiting for the Spring Rod Run? What's your favorite part about the weekend?" John writes, "We visit Pigeon Forge 4 or 5 times a year. We come for Dollywood and to see shows and shop. We made the mistake of coming one year during a car show. You could not go anywhere for the traffic. It took us 3 hours to travel 2 miles on the parkway. I know the car shows bring in a lot of people which is good for business, but since that trip I always check to see when they are having a car show there and we move our plans around it." Mary writes, "My husband and I come every Spring to the Srping Rod Run! We love Pigeon Forge all the time, but its so fun to come down from Michigan to the nice Tennessee weather and have a fun, long weekend in the Smokies! We love to see all the cars, meet fun new people and enjoy the Pigeon Forge activities! We'll be there soon! Can't wait!" |

Easter Fun in the Smokies!

Dolly Parton's "Sha-Kon-O-Hey" Raises Money for the Smokies!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Almost $400,000 has been raised by Sevier County native Dolly Parton and her business ventures for the Friends of the Smokies group during the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's 75th anniversary celebration.
According to a Friends of the Smokies press release, Parton has contributed more than $250,000 from the sale of her "Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke" CD. About $110,000 was raised from the "Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke" stage show, which premiered at Dollywood on May 9, 2009. The money will go toward the Friends of the Smokies' Trails Forever endowment program, which helps maintain hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains.
