| Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to email us any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you. Question of the Week, "Have you been to Winterfest before? If so, what was your favorite part?"
Last week's question, "Pigeon Forge is a great family destination, what are your children's favorite activities in Pigeon Forge?"
Teresa writes, "My 2 year old daughter and I were lucky enough to make two trips to the Smoky Mountains this fall. I was weary of finding things that she would enjoy. Her favorite place was the kiddie rides at the Track, also she enjoyed shopping at the new 3 bears gift shop and playing skeeball in their arcade. Next year we might try Dollywood because she'll be old enough to enjoy it more."
Stacy writes, "The grandchildren's all time favorite is the Exotic Deer Farm! They get one on one with the animals. You can get dirty, so bring an extra change of clothes. They will talk about it the whole way home so we save it for last. Bring baby wipes and a camera! Rainforest Adventure runs a hard second, almost a tie. It's my favorite for them. They take lots of time with the kids. Up close and personal. Also very educational. We always go back to Waldens Creek Riding Stables.The guides are great with kids. They are patient with picture taking, us Grandmothers have to get the perfect shot. The children enjoy the cookouts when in season, and the cowboy atmosphere. The teenagers love the old time photos, the best we found is across from the Colonial House Motel, our last 2 photographers were very kid friendly. There is so much for every season, this is why we go several times a year on the children's holiday breaks. We would like to venture elsewhere but the kids will not let us!! Pigeon Forge is a true family destination. I know when I am no longer able or not around, they will be bringing their children there, and thinking of Maw Maw and Paw Paw." |
Happy Holidays to All!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Holiday Season the Pigeon Forge area is beautiful and filled with the Christmas Spirit! The Winterfest lights are beautiful, the new Winterfest attraction "Christmas Wonderland at Smokies Stadium", is a great addition to the millions of lights, and of course everyone is doing their Christmas shopping in the area. This is great for those who love the hustle and bustle of the holidays, but for those of you who would like to just get away this holiday season, we haven't forgotten about you either! There are plenty of cabins up in the mountains for those of you who would love to just escape and relax for the holidays. It's the perfect place to forget about the shopping, the lines and the crowds, and enjoy the beauty of the mountains! You might even get to see a little bit of snow while you're here!

| 34th Annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Classic motor cars and period dancing routines will salute the Smokies 75th anniversary at the lead of the parade, which is sponsored by Land O' Lakes Half & Half. The City of Gatlinburg and Land O' Lakes Half & Half invite you to bundle up and generate a spirited dose of holiday cheer and soak up the Gatlinburg Christmas lights with the 34th annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 4 in Downtown, with more than 100 parade entries including marching bands and giant helium balloons taking to the streets.
Santa's Autograph Party cranks up at 6 p.m. at Riverbend Mall, in the midst of a main viewing area for the Parade at Traffic Light #3 in front of the Gatlinburg Welcome Center. The parade begins at Traffic Light #1A on Hwy 321 and ends about an hour-and-a-half later at Traffic Light #10. Pre-parade performances by Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre, Ginger Brown's Academy of Performing Arts, Elizabeth Williams Dance Academy, and the Winter Tunes & Tales Carolers are also planned.
Jamming sidewalks and balconies along the parade route, a crowd in excess of 80,000 people is expected to soak up the illuminating festivities for Gatlinburg Winter Magic, and the popular Gatlinburg Christmas lights program, which has received a $1.5 million injection of new displays plus a 100-percent conversion to energy-efficient LED bulbs over the past three years.
