This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to email us any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight reader's comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you.
Question of the Week, "Have you ever seen a bear in the Smokies? If so, where did you see it?"
Last week's question, "What is your favorite store to visit while in the Smokies?"
Susan wrote, "Well it use to be Boyd's Bears, but since they left another favorite store is the Christmas Place. I love going to the Christmas place year round. It smells so wonderful, the staff are always friendly and helpful and it's a place that my entire family enjoys. I enjoy browsing through out the shops with my daughter who absolutley loves the store as well, while my husband can sit outside by the train and just relax. It has that cozy, warm feel about it that is so inviting. I wish I were there now." Tommy wrote, "We are pet lovers and our favorite shop to visit is The Smoky Mtn. Cat House and next door is The Smoky Mtn. Dog House. You can spends hours just buying things for your home and of course your pet. The shops always welcomes you with a friendly smile and I have become good friends with over 6 years of regular visits. We often visit the Old Mill resturant and store next door for some awsome foods and home made jellies."
Betty wrote, "The Three Bears of course! We were very upset when it burned and can't wait to see the new store . We will be in the Smokies this coming week-end, October 10th-12th!! Love the Smokey Mountains, the only place I vacation!" |
| Fall Foliage Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The fall season is beautiful in the Smokies! Although we are not quite to the peak fall colors, we are quickly approaching! Most predict the peak time to be at the end of October, but anytime from now until into November you will find beautiful fall colors in the mountains. Since the higher elevations are changing now you might want to take a hike to get a great view of the mountains in this fall transition. The Chimney Tops trail is a 4 mile round trip hike and has a breathtaking 360 degree view at the top! In 2 miles, you'll climb 1,650 feet! If you're not much of a hiker, take a trip up to Clingmans Dome, which is only a half-mile walk and get a great view without the hike! Don't forget that the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is going on through October 31st.
