Question of the Week, "When you think about fall time in the Smokies, what comes to mind first?"
Last week's question, "How far do you drive to see the beautiful Smoky Mountains fall foliage?"
Kayla writes, "We drive about 8 hours every year for our anniversary to come see the beautiful fall foliage. This year will be the 4th year... I wouldn't miss it for anything! We are bringing our 6 month old baby boy for the first time! I know he's going to enjoy it as much as we will! I cant wait to see you! We will be there the first week of November!"
The Troutmans write, "We absolutely love Pigeon Forge, The Smoky Mountains, and we love Dollywood. We especially love to come down when Dolly is in the area. We are from central PA, and we travel almost 12 hours to get there, and it is so worth the long drive. We can't wait for our return trips. We visited in May and will visiting our home away from home (Pigeon Forge) in early October for the Southern Gospel Event at Dollywood. We will also be sure to take our great trip to Cades Cove to see the beauty and colors of fall."
Carolyn writes, "We drive ten hours one way to see the beauty of the Smokies in the Fall. One of our trips to the area is in early November. We are seldom disappointed by the color still lingering in the lower elevations. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the world to enjoy Fall color."
Kathleen writes, "We drive 700 miles from Winter Haven, Fl to see the beautiful Fall colors and enjoy the cool weather. We have been doing this for years and never get tired of the trip."
Ed writes, "It is an 8 hour drive for us from PA to drive to the smokies. We have been going for the last 5 years, but we were unable to get a week to go this year so we went down over the labor day weekend. We left after work and arrived around 2 AM stayed until monday and came home. My wife said it was a lot of travel for just 2 days but we still enjoyed the mountains." |
| Fall Foliage in the Smokies!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The peak time for fall colors in the Smokies is usually the first or second week in October, and it is looking to be around that same time this year. Currently, we are starting to see a slight color change in the higher elevations. Ever wonder why the leaves change colors?
Also, with the amount of rain we have been recieving over the past week, the moisture may speed up the changing of the fall colors. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated on the fall color progress throughout the season with weekly updates.
Jim Ed Brown came to fame in the '50s as part of the vocal group, The Browns. In 1965, he embarked on a solo career that launched popular songs like "Pop a Top Again" and "Sometime Sunshine."
This versatile performer will be joined by Jack Greene, a star of the Grand Ole Opry, who is best known for his recordings of "There Goes My Everything" and "Until My Dreams Come True."
Christus Gardens is now Christ in the Smokies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The popular Christus Gardens closed last year, and after many mourned the loss of this museum, some saw the great need to keep this wonderful attraction alive. So, the former Christus Gardens has recently reopened as Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens. Much like the previous museum, with current updates and brand new exhibits.
Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens is one of the nation's foremost inspirational attractions. Featuring incredibly life-like scenes telling the Story of Christ, utilizing life size figures, dramatic lighting, music and special effects.
