| Question of the Week!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is dedicated to you, our readers! Feel free to email us any of your fun stories from your vacation in Pigeon Forge. Send us photos, memories, travel tips, anything that you would like to tell us about your experience in the Smokies. Every week we will highlight readers comments in this article. Thanks for all the feedback. We love to hear from you.
Question of the Week, "There are tons of festivals that take place all year long in Pigeon Forge, what is your favorite?"
Last week's question, "With fall quickly approaching, what is your favorite fall activity in the Smokies?"
Teresa wrote, "Would be anything that allows you to get out and enjoy the season. I especially like taking walks through Gatlinburg, the city parks, and Dollywood. The colors in the mountains, the streams, the cooler days, and the smells, all to be enjoyed in the fall of the year."
Renee wrote, "Driving around Cades Cove... The leaves are just beginning to change. The colors are OUTSTANDING! You can see realization of Dolly's song about 'God's Coloring Book.'"
| The Smokies Will be Represented on the New Quarter Series
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Governor Phil Bredesen today announced that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park will represent Tennessee as one of 56 new quarter-dollar coins honoring national sites. Beginning in 2010, the U.S. Mint will issue the quarters in accordance with the "America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008."
"This honor comes at the perfect time as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the park's dedication," said Bredesen in a press release. "An astounding 10 million visitors from all over the world enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains every year. Now millions more will get to share this significant piece of U.S. history whether they choose to spend it or add it to their coin collections."
Earlier this year, Bredesen submitted his preference of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to represent Tennessee. The coins will be issued from 2010 through 2022 in the order in which each site was first established as a national site. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park quarter will be released in 2014.

| Fall Foliage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It has not quite turned over from summer to fall just yet, but don't be fooled, it's right around the corner! The first official day of fall is September 22nd, but if you look close enough you can already start to see some changes in the leaves. Some of the first trees to start changing in the late summer are the Black Gums and the Wild Cherries. In the Gum you will see some splashes of red and in the Wild Cherry you can spot a little bit of gold amongst their green leaves. So start looking for those beautiful fall colors, they'll be here and gone before you know it!
