Issue: #56 August 2010
Greetings!

This is the time of year we look at our beat up bedding plants, sparse shrubs and say enough is enough. Here are some plant and garden art ideas that will freshen up your yard.
Summer Color
Sandra Montgomery windowCrape Myrtle

A lot of people are not familar with this old time Tucson favorite. The colorful, blooming shrub is known best for flowering most of the summer. Vibrant pink, purple, and white blooming plants (petite and regular) are available in our nursery now.
Second Chance Seed Planting
Monsoon Planting

If you missed the spring planting season, don't worry, the Monsoon brings us another (sometimes better) time to plant summer seeds. Corn, beans, and  peas all get a second growing season. We still have a nice selection of flower and vegetable seeds to plant now. Check out our complete list of Vegetable Planting Dates at harlowgardens.com.
Rocking Peacocks
Entertaining Garden Art

Peacocks in the desert? These cheerful birds rock in the wind and are made of durable materials. Different sizes available to fit any garden or patio.

Bird of Paradise
More on Birds

Here's a bird of a different feather. This shrub is found everywhere in our urbanized southwest desert and for good reason; it is drought tolerent and almost care free. Beautiful plants are now in stock.

Hot Lawns
Summer Lawn Care

Lawns can take a beating this time of year. Between the sun, weeds, fungus, and grubs, it seems like there is always something. If your lawn is having trouble, bring us a piece or a picture of the damaged area and we can help you on your way to a beautiful lawn.

Green AND Fashionable
Beautiful Bags from Blue Q

Reusable shopping bags are essential for the environment, but most look bland and boring. If you are ready to be green AND stylish, check out our selection of Blue Q bags in our gift shop. Not only do they prevent the use of plastic bags, they are made of 95% post-consumer material.
