The monsoon has begun, whether or not we get rain is another story. Hopefully, with La Nina coming into cycle, we won't have the El Nino Nonsoon we had last year. Unfortunately, the monsoon storms can bring gardening disadvanges.
Wind Damage
Severe winds are a part of the monsoon. Strong winds are known to uproot mature trees, not to mention knock over newly planted trees. Come in and talk to a Garden Wizard about how to keep your trees upright.
Excess Moisture
During the monsoon we can experience consecutive days with heavy rains, cooler temperatures and/or cloud cover. If one or more of these conditions occur, it can take longer for the soil to dry out. Different types of fungi can occur in your garden when this happens. If you suspect a fungus, bring in part of the infected plant and talk with a Garden Wizard. P.S. Digital photos can also be helpful.
Locally Grown Tradewinds Hibiscus
As a symbol of summer, the hibiscus is a great way to get a lot of color from one plant. We carry locally grown Tradewinds Hibiscus in a variety of stunning colors. Fresh plants are now in stock.
Indoor Decor
Summer heat tends to bring us inside, which is when we notice that empty corner, shelf, or table. Bring some green indoors and visit our giftshop. We have a nice variety of the usual and unusual houseplants.
