New Years Eve Report
Thanks to the hotel, we had exclusive use of the entire
complex. This made for a wonderful way to bring in
the New Year. The hotel kept the prices down to just
$69 a night, well below the area average and Virginia
Friends still charged the regular rate despite the
higher costs for a holiday events. Well, it paid off.
Over 165 couples attended, even though it was in the
middle of the week. We started off with a "Gathering"
in the bar on Tuesday night. We had a much larger
turnout than we expected and filled the bar. However,
since a lot of couples had to work the next day many
did not stay for the floor party. No biggie, the ones that
stayed still made the best of things and partied till late
into the night.
We appreciate all that came down early on
Wednesday to
help with all the wonderful decorations. The ballroom
looked wonderful. We kicked things off with
the "Newcomers" seminar with quite a few couples.
For those of you that attended, we hope you got some
because of it! The evening kicked off with a huge line
at the photo booth. If you want a digital version please
email us a picture of yourself with your names and we
will send you the digital copy. Please post these on
your favorite personals website such as SLS, AFF or
Christian Singles, (just joking!) It seemed like a lot
on couples hooked up early as we were concerned
about the overcrowding up stairs on the party floor.
However, a large portion of the party stayed the extra
hour downstairs until 1:00am. Sorry you missed all
the good shrimp upstairs! Congratulations to Jeff and
Misty for winning our Yearbook contest with the most
signatures! Next time New Years lands on a
Thursday, so we will be doing a survey on how many
couples will be staying throughout Friday and even
possible Saturday. We'll send it out late this year.

Greetings!
We are well into the New Year and with all the bad
news about the economy that the media dishes out,
we all have to try to keep our heads up high. Virginia
Friends maintains our policy to keep its prices down
and
work throughout the rest of the year with our DJ
Company, Hotel and Security to try to keep these
events as affordable as possible. The hotel is just
$69 plus tax per night this month.

Valentines Day Weekend
|
This year, because Valentines Day lands on a
Saturday, we are calling it just that, leaving the "Lady In
Red" theme out. But don't think we won't see some
red
or even pink dresses running around! This month we
will start the weekend off on Friday with
our "Gathering" at the bar followed by our members
only after hour's floor party starting at 11:00pm.
Saturday starts off with the "New Comers" seminar at
6:45pm across from the ballroom. We appreciate the
first timers that made it to the one last month. What a
great attitude that everybody had that attended it. We
have quite a few new Members signed up for this
month and we hope we will have just as much fun as
we did at the last one. The "Valentines Day Dance"
officially begins at 8:00pm with DJ Danny pumping out
the
music.
We expect a lot of requests for this dance. We are
always looking for contestants for our Virginia
Friends "Original" contest so Ladies, make sure you
sign up.
If you don't attend this one,
then you'll miss a real treat. For this special occasion
we are going to have an after hours Lingerie party after
the dance on the party floor. The hotel has prepared a
special menu for those that want to dine at the hotel
Saturday night. The other restaurants will be crowded
so we recommend you support the hotel and have a
$69.95 three course dinner for two here at the hotel.

Gatherings Update
|
|
As the winter months roll in, we normally
discontinue these events. What the Hell were we
thinking! We haven't seen a "Gathering" this big in
years. The new environment seems to be pretty
popular as most couples are staying longer than
before. A lot of people that we have not seen in a
while showed up pushing us past 70 couples. We
had some Door prize giveaways and congrats to
Teresa for winning the discount, Dawn the Yearbook
and Linda for the Free Membership. The Twister
contest was so hot! Thanks to the bartender Maggie
for getting it started. However, Dawn ended up (pun
intended) keeping it in the air the longest to win the
competition. Great job by the bar staff especially
Maggie, Kim and our favorite, Jamie. They dressed
the part, did a wonderful job making us feel welcome
and took good care of us.

Last minute Stuff
|
|
A schedule of events will be sent out next week before
the dance. Right now we are having some scheduling
conflicts with hotel for the March party. There is a
soccer tournament in town and all the hotels are full
throughout the month. We are trying to be creative and
maybe do something different. Maybe even combine
the "Gathering" event. So keep watching for possible
date changes. We'll keep you posted as we
look into some venues. I have sent out the digital
photos of you that have requested them. If for some
reason you did not get them please email me again.
Also, some of you have posted them on SLS and I just
wanted to say thank you. It means a lot.
The hotel has held its rate at only $69.00 per night
(plus taxes) for this weekend.

enter the Group Code "VAF" or you might not get the
special rate.
