Sonoco Hayward and Waste to Waves to Work Together to Recycle EPS
Waste to Waves is a program created by Sustainable Surf, a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability and EPS recycling in the state of California.  The program collects EPS foam at collection points all across California and then reprocesses the used EPS foam for recycling into new surf board blanks.

Sustainable Surf is reaching a point where they are collecting more foam than they have capacity for, so they reached out to the EPS Industry Alliance, of which Sonoco is a member.

The EPS-IA, in turn, asked the Sonoco Hayward facility for help and Hayward has agreed to help Waste to Waves by periodically recycling EPS from places around the Bay Area and will continue
to help promote EPS recycling in the area.

Sonoco Hayward Negotiates Quarterly Pricing for IM Customers
A quarterly pricing initiative was recently implemented for ten of the top Integrated Materials customers at the Hayward plant.  Prior to this agreement, each time an order was placed, a customer had to wait for a requote to get updated pricing.

After getting approved by everyone from sales management, engineering, and puchasing, to the local fabricated foam and corrugated suppliers; this new pricing model wil drastically reduce lead time and man hours spent requoting over 60 different part numbers whenever there is an RFQ or reorder.  The customer will benefit the most with not having to wait for quotes each time they order and knowing their pricing will be valid until the end of the quarter.
