Retailer Ideas

Good Morning..

Finally a glorious Monday morning!  After a few weeks of not very nice Monday's, we have a beautiful Spring like morning.  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and for you that run and work your business on the weekend, I hope it was a busy, prosperous one for you.

This week is a little reminder from the Feb 21 newsletter about our South African producer, DeWaal Estate.  The DeWaal products are now here and are ready for you to order.  One change is that the Top of the Hill Pinotage has arrived in six packs.  This is good news!  No excuse now not to try a case of this amazing wine.

Also this week, I have touched on a couple really basic but effective retailer ideas that I have come across.  Also a unique marketing tool from top, Calgary based copywriter, Troy White.

I hope you enjoy.  Please email me if you have suggestions or ideas for the newsletter, I'm all ears.  Also please let me know of ways that I, as a Wine Agent, can help you.

Also give me a idea how we can best reach out to you.  I'm always looking for ways to efficiently manage your's and my time, after all I understand you have busy lives running your businesses.  Agents often find themselves spending a huge amount of time just getting appointments with you.  Is there a better way for you?   Let me know.

Do you know someone in the wine trade that would like this newsletter, please forward it to them and ask them to sign up.  And as always, if would rather not receive these newsletters, please send a note to opt out.

Sincerely,
Rome Awde

DeWaal Estate.

The South African's are here!

The DeWaal Estate wine have arrived and are ready for your orders, of course as with all of our wines, there is a limited amount in stock.  We rotate the stock constantly and only usually bring in a pallet at a time.  These wines are of very high value.  Great quality for good pricing.

The DeWaal Young Vine series is perfect for a glass wine in a restaurant that would like to feature a South African wine.  You will not be disappointed in the quality of the wine.  At around $7.50 per glass in a dining room, this wine will sell itself to your guest.  The Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh new world style from a old world vineyard, and the Merlot has great body and fruit to satisfy every Merlot fan out there.  Your customers will enjoy!

The DeWaal Pinotage is where this Estate really shines.  The DeWaal family have specialized in this grape from the very beginning.  When many, if not most Southern Cape producers were pulling the Pinotage out of the ground, DeWaal was nurturing and working the vines and grapes to produce a wine like no other.   The 2010 Vintage Pinotage is a excellent wine, with great character and of very high quality for the money.

I introduce, with great fanfare and pomp, the Top Of The Hill Pinotage 2007. This wine is spectacular!  If your not a fan of Pinotage, that's understandable as there has been many a Pinotage sold in Alberta that are, frankly, not very good. This is not the case here.   This wine has been labeled one of the top Pinotage in the world for many years.  The vines are all over 50 years old, many much older.  This vineyard, with it's exposure and soil, has a very unique quality.   This wine is a must try.  You will not regret it as this is arguably the best Pinotage available in Alberta.  Click on the Bottles to go to a PDF sheet on the wine.

Some ideas on how to grow your wine retail business.

Many of you may find these ideas simple and have at times used each of these.  Some of you are busy just trying to keep your shops open and have not had much time to put a lot of thought into some marketing that is a little different then displays and other shop setups.  here are a couple very simple but effective ideas that can drive some business and put some coin in the pockets.

First is the gift basket program.  I'm sure you put together a gift basket sales program for christmas.  If you didn't, you should.  be creative in what you put in them.  A great one is to include everything to enjoy a glass of wine right where they are, Wine, Glasses, Cork screw, and maybe a little cracker selection, from there your customer can pick up a little cheese and the gift is complete.  If you are not doing gift baskets year around, your missing out on Birthdays and special occasions everyday.  Someone will walk into your shop everyday that is going to a special function or party and a gift basket maybe just what they need.

One More.   Corporate client gifts.  The day's of corporate graft are gone, but!  A little wine gift for a job well done, or a special client can always go a long way. Have you a friend or someone you know who is in Real Estate?  Set up an account with them, they can gift wine for their clients and if you have an account in place with them and provide a little incentive, they will only come to you when they need a client gift.  Try this with a progressive, professional car salesman too.  If he is good, he sells around 15 cars a month!  That could be a nice little account, and his customers will always remember him for that nice bottle of wine sitting on the seat of their new car.  Be sure to have a colorful wrapping service available to them.

Good selling!
