Loads Arriving this Week from Landmark Auction!
Before BIG!NYC was in operation, NYC residents had access to a city-operated Architectural Salvage Warehouse in Williamsburg. This was the holding place, and often marketplace, for goods from demolished landmarks and other buildings in NYC.

Last year, the Landmarks Preservation Commission opened the warehouse's doors after a 10-year hiatus and donated materials to museums and community groups. The remaining items were put up for auction to clear the space before the building is converted to affordable housing. BIG!NYC was lucky enough to have the winning bid on many lots at the auction.

Calling NYC Furniture Designers & Design Students!
You probably already know that BIG!NYC loves reclaimed lumber - we love to save it from the landfill; we love to make it available to our friends in the city; and we love to see what people create with it!
This spring, BIG!NYC will be co-sponsoring the 12 x 12 design competition with Sawkill Lumber Co. and 3rd Ward. The exhibition will supply twelve contemporary furniture designers with reclaimed lumber from twelve demolished NYC buildings. The event will be held this May in NYC during Spring Design Week.
Submissions are now being accepted on the 12x12 website, and are open to all individuals and companies that design and fabricate furniture in NYC: Visit www.12x12nyc.com to learn more!
