The changing of the guard...

We're saying goodbye to Paul Mills, who in the short time that he was director of the Library, was instrumental in some of the changes that we're seeing here at Acorn.  Paul, you will be missed.

Now, a Note from Our Interim Director, Eric Werthmann...

It was with great pleasure that I accepted the Board of Trustees' generous offer to serve as acting director of the library. This is an exciting time at the Acorn, with the recent introduction of eBooks for our patrons and the continuation of a renovation project that will result in a fresh and inviting space for the Library. I intend to work hard to continue to improve the Library's services and resources so as to better meet the needs of our patrons.

I moved to Illinois in late 2008 and I have been working at the Library as a reference librarian and head of adult programming since February 2009. Prior to this, I received my Masters of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. My youth was spent in the Northeast, mostly in Connecticut. While I am a relative newcomer to the area, it has been an immense privilege to meet so many wonderful patrons and to serve such a welcoming community.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Karen Miner for agreeing to serve as our interim construction manager.  Karen has been our business services manager since May 2002 and she will act in her new role until our current construction project is substantially complete. Karen is an extremely talented manager and I know that she will ensure that the renovation will proceed as efficiently as possible.
