Book Reviews

You Are Not a Gadget by Jaron Lanier  (Adult Nonfiction) - Lanier is one of the pioneers of the internet and a contributor to the creation of virtual reality.  He passionately argues against online collectivism and the lasting implications it will have on our creativity.      Mike, Youth Services

Bark, George by Jules Feiffer (Juv. Fiction) - George's mom wants him to bark but all that comes out are other animal sounds until she takes him to the vet to get to the bottom of this mystery.  Very Cute!                                                                 Regina, Youth Services

American Experience:  The Presidents (DVD) - This PBS series uses excellent archival footage, historians' analyses, and interviews with friends and foes to render intimate and laudably balanced portraits of our presidents.  Educational and very entertaining.          Megan, Reference
