Stay informed and get involved in your local government. Below are three ways to get involved this week:
Tuesday, May 10th
Please join me and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs this morning at the Grand Opening of "Permitting Services" (One-Stop Initiative). This new office gives citizens and businesses one central location to acquire permits, ending the need to visit several offices across the county. The one stop shop will feature a permitting advocate to oversee the process and a customer service team specifically trained to explain and facilitate county procedures.
Event: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (Permitting Services)
When: May 10th, 2011
Time: 8:45 a.m.
Location: First Floor - Growth Management Information Center
Wednesday, May 11th
Redistricting Meeting
Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m.
Board of County Commissioner Chambers
201 S. Rosalind Avenue
Orange County Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator Louis Schoolkate will discuss 2010 census data compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau for each district within Orange County. Mr. Schoolkate will also provide a tutorial on the redistricting software that the committee will use to redraw the Orange County Commission districts.
For copies of the meeting agenda or for additional information please visit the Redistricting Advisory Committee's website at www.ocfl.net/rac, email RAC@ocfl.net or contact the Orange County Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division at 407-836-5606.
It is important for all Orange County Citizens to have input, as the Redistricting Advisory Board creates their recommendations for re-drawing the legislative lines within Orange County. If you have any questions regarding redistricting please visit our FAQ page on our website or call your District 4 office at 407-836-5881.
Friday, May 13th
I hope you will join me at the South Orange County Economic and Jobs Summit. The summit will be from 8:00 a.m. until noon, at the Orange County Convention Center West Concourse. Please visit www.OCFL.net/economicandjobssummitt to register for free.
I hope that you will stay involved!
Thanks,
Jennifer Thompson
