I hope that you will join me and participate in the first Redistricting Advisory Board meeting next week on April 7.
Meeting Details:
Date: Thursday, April 7, 2011 Time: 6:00 p.m. Location: Board of County Commissioners Chambers, 201 S. Rosalind Avenue
Redistricting is the constitutionally-mandated redrawing of local, state, and federal political boundaries every ten years following the federal Census to account for changes in population during the previous decade. In Orange County, it is required that each commission district be as nearly equal in population as practicable.
"I want to personally invite all community members out to the upcoming redistricting meeting to ensure that everyone who wants a voice has one," says Thompson. "We pledge to do our best to make sure that everyone in our community has fair representation regarding this issue. At this juncture, the best way to move forward with that collaborative method is to encourage and allow full participation to all interested parties. Our goal is to represent everyone in every neighborhood as fairly as possible."
Please joing me, Orange County Staff and board members, next Thursday, for the first Redistricting Advisory Board Meeting.
I hope to see you there.
Thank you,
Jennifer Thompson
