URISA invites experienced geospatial professionals of all kinds - particularly those with management experience - to review and comment on a draft Geospatial Management Competency Model (GMCM). The GMCM specifies 74 essential competencies and 17 competency areas that characterize the work of most successful managers in the geospatial industry. Please review the draft model online and then proceed to the questionnaire for your thoughtful comment in this important process for the profession (by March 31).

Pre-registration numbers are well ahead of last year for the URISA Leadership Academy (June 11-15, 2012 in Savannah, Georgia). If you're considering attending this year, you are strongly encouraged to register soon as classroom size is limited for this event.
The GIS-Pro 2012 Conference Committee met recently in Portland to discuss abstract submissions and organize the conference program. Really looking good! Stay tuned for exciting conference details, activities and more!
