Have an interest in webinars?
The URISA Connect Committee is looking for volunteers to help indentify, review, and moderate URISA Connect educational webinars. Members of the URISA Connect Committee will be responsible for identifying topics and subject matter experts for monthly webinars. Occasionally, committee members will be responsible for moderating the live text chat portion of the webinar and may act as technical support for attendees. The committee will also be responsible for reviewing presentation content to ensure that the information is appropriate for the audience, engaging, and vendor-neutral. The committee conducts monthly conference calls and schedules at least one webinar each month. If you have additional questions or would like to join the committee, please contact URISA Education Manager, Jeni Griffith, at jgriffith@urisa.org.

 | Announcing a New Publication in Progress

Foundations of Urban and Regional Information Systems and Geographic Information Systems and Science
Barry Wellar, member of the GIS Hall of Fame and recipient of the Horwood Award and the Anderson Medal, is the Guest Editor of a new book celebrating URISA's 50th anniversary conference. The book is sponsored by URISA past presidents.
"URISA conference programs, workshops, and publications are responsible for numerous original research, education, training, and applications activities in urban and regional information systems and geographic information systems and science.
The 50th annual conference is a timely opportunity to once again take stock of the field's progress, and to reflect upon the significant contributions made by URISA and its members to the foundations of urban and regional information systems and geographic information systems and science.
I am very pleased that so many people with outstanding credentials are signing on to assist in preparing what I believe will be a must-read publication for decades to come." Barry Wellar, Professor Emeritus, University of Ottawa Principal, Wellar Consulting Inc.
Information about titles of papers and names of contributors will be posted on a regular basis on the URISA website. |

Congratulations and welcome aboard! Get to know the VC here.
We've recently updated our online Sponsor Directory. Take some time to learn more about these great organizations! (And if your favorite company isn't listed... encourage them to join!)
We started an online list of college and university GIS programs many years ago (all suggested by members) and the list has gotten incredibly long. Lately, we've had inquiries about online programs in particular, so we added that column to the table. Take a look when you have time and suggest updates/corrections if you have them!
Sincerely,
Wendy Nelson Executive Director, URISA
