- Feature of the Month -

[Louet Kidlin]

Louet's Kidlin is a unique blend of Kid Mohair and Euroflax Linen and we have a plethora of colours to choose from!  This soft and delicate yarn is very luxurious yet has the strength of linen, creating garments with a beautiful drape.  It is particularly suited to patterns with open work as the halo of the mohair creates an enchanting look.  We have a wide range of patterns to support this yarn including Alia, featured above, and all patterns are currently complimentary with the purchase of the yarn!

- Always Something New -

We are pleased to announce that we are now carrying Jade Sapphire's 100% Mongolian Cashmere - the 2-ply has already arrived and the 6-ply is on its way. Each hand-dyed skein is unique and incredibly soft!  A cowl pattern is complimentary with purchase...so, spoil yourself or someone you love with a special project made with this divine yarn.

New yarns from Noro include Mossa, a chunky weight wool blend and Haniwa, a worsted weight silk/wool/nylon blend. The new Noro book, volume 32, contains a variety of patterns from scarves and hats, to vests and sweaters.  Something for everyone.

From Alchemy, newTweedy, a 28 stitch gauge cotton/mohair/silk blend; and Sanctuary, a 24 stitch gauge wool/silk blend, as well as new colours of Haiku and Silken Straw.  All of these yarns are exquisite!

And, speaking of exquisite, from Tilli Tomas, a wonderful selection of Pure & Simple, Rock Star, Mega Skeins, and Kid Lace.  Three complimentary patterns come with the yarn including a Mobius Cowl, a Cozy Cowl, and a Symphony Mantilla scarf.

We also just received a new shipment of Devin's Toques and Cashmere Cloche kits from Handmaiden in a lovely assortment of colours.

Amanda's latest and greatest is Double H  from Great Adirondack.  This thick/thin chunky weight yarn is hand-dyed and contains silk ribbon and sequins, making for a stunning scarf or cowl!  Also from Great Adirondack is Blue Face Leicester Mulberry Silk Roving and Mohair Locks in colourways that are spectacular!

One of our favourite magazines, Knitwear Fall 2012, is just in and is chockerblock full of fabulous patterns and ideas!  As well, Knitting Traditions, which also has great patterns as well as loads of stories and techniques.  The article on Peruvian knitting right side out is fascinating, as well as one on knitting notebooks from the 19th century.

- Project Ideas -

Gina Wilde from Alchemy is not only incredibly creative and talented with her yarns, but she also designs patterns that show off her collections beautifully.  All the patterns highlighted below are knit using a combination of Silken Straw and Sanctuary and are subsequently felted using the Shibori method.  Due to the combination of yarns and the felting technique, the garments will actually grow in length and width as opposed to shrinking.  The felting fiber (Sanctuary) will shrink, while the non-felting fiber (Silken Straw) will grow.  Yarn substitutions are not recommended for these patterns.

The Wisdom Wrap, featured above, is an easy, meditative pattern with lots of colour play. The felting process with this pattern creates a soft and translucent fabric with a lovely drape and sensuous texture.

Our personal "wow" is the New Magician's Scarf, which is "magic" due to the remarkable transformation that occurs after it is knit and subsequently felted, creating a lovely ruffled edge.

And, the Waterfall Scarf, which uses three different colours of Silken Straw and one skein of Sanctuary, fluctuates in width and length, creating a true waterfall effect.
