Feature of the Month - Rowan Books & Yarn
For those of you who have been waiting patiently, the new Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine Number 51 has arrived, including 47 designs from Marie Wallin, Kaffe Fassett, Lisa Richardson, Erika Knight and Josh Bennet, to name a few. Also, Rowan Seascapes by Martin Storey is just in and includes numerous patterns using Creative Linen, Summer Tweed & Savannah. Eleven new colours of Creative Linen as well as new colours in Savannah, Sienna 4 ply, Revive, Kidsilk Haze, and Fine Lace have also arrived. And, Little Rowan, which contains 17 baby and toddler designs that are too cute for words is another must have magazine. |

Always Something New
Yes, the new patterns and, of course, all new colours from Spud and Chloe and Blue Sky Alpacas have arrived. Favourite patterns from Blue Sky include: Vladmira's Shell, a long sleeve, scoop neck pullover with a solitary cable motif at the neckline; London Tunic, a preppy, yet modern classic vest; and Avalon Cardigan, a simple to knit, bohemian style sweater, perfect for any occasion. From Spud and Chloe: Leaf Blanket, the little leaf cocoon blanket featured on the right, a quick knit in Outer and perfect for any little one; Esther's Tunic, a sporty vintage inspired tank, knit in one piece with minimal shaping; and Jersey Pullover, an easy knit man's
v-neck pullover, which will fast become his favourite.
Due to popular demand, we have also brought in new Berroco including Flicker, a super soft alpaca yarn with a glittering, tinsel like filament that matches each shade. Also, Seduce, a mix of silk, linen, rayon and nylon, making a light and breathable fabric with a lovely drape. Both yarns are a 20 stitch gauge and come with supporting pattern books full of exciting and inspiring projects.
Regia Nautica is our newest dk sock yarn, available in 8 bright and refreshing prints, suitable for indoor and outdoor wear.

Project Ideas
Howlcat, a really fun project that is both cowl and hat, has the added advantage of being reversible! The pattern contains two sizes, which should fit most people and is very easy to adjust. It is the ultimate in super-simple tv knitting and a great project for a beginner! Plus, it also works for dogs.
Or for another great hat project, the Jimmy and Milly sock monkey caps are absolutely adorable. The ear flaps are knit first, then worked into cast-on round. Ears are picked up and knit once hat is complete, and embellishments are knit separately and stitched on. Suggested yarn is Cascade 220 and the pattern is sized for monkeys of any age!
A favourite pattern from Rowan's new Seascapes magazine is Rhea, a long line cowl neck sweater with pockets - super cozy and timeless. This easy to knit sweater would look great over jeans or leggings. Suggested yarn is Creative Linen. |
