Feature of the Month - Manos del Uruguay
This month, we are featuring a stunning array of kettle dyed yarns from Manos del Uruguay including Maxima, Serena, Silk Blend, Lace and Classica. Not only are their yarns stunning, but the Manos Cooperative has recently gained World Fair Trade Organization certification. So when you purchase Manos you are not only purchasing beautiful hand crafted yarn; you are directly helping the development of economic opportunities for the women and their families in rural Uruguay.
In addition to the yarn, we have a wonderful assortment of accompanying patterns including Hannah, featured on the right. This elegant lace shawl with eyelet details is knit using Manos Lace. |

Always Something New
If you are a fan of Rowan's Kidsilk Haze, you will love the latest Kidsilk Haze Stripe, which is a self striping version of Kid Silk Haze. The colour combinations have been cleverly put together by the master of colour 'Kaffe Fassett' and the scarf featured on the right is available as a free pattern. And, also new from Rowan, Kidsilk Creation, another version of a super fast, yet, funky scarf .
New from Louisa Harding is Nerissa, a super soft 100% cotton chenille. The rich shades and velvety texture make it perfect for accessories, sweaters, or baby garments.
From Garn Studio, their new Alpaca Boucle is lovely for any project. The boucle in this yarn is smaller than most, allowing for more versatility and easy knitting.
For project ideas, we have loads of new Jared Flood Look Book patterns, as well as new patterns from Deep South Fibers and Churchmouse. And, for Stephen West fans, we just got in his new West Knits Book Two with 11 new designs ranging from hats and scarves to cabled mittens and a blanket.
Lots of new bags and notions from Namaste including the Mini Messenger bag, a cross body design with loads of pockets for organizing, and the Skinny Mini, an expandable case, perfect for storing notions.

Project Ideas
Rustica, the circular knitted vest featured on the right is a free pattern by Drops Designs. This vest, knit using Garn Studio's Alpaca Boucle, is extremely versatile and would look great over jeans or a dress.
If you haven't already noticed, the poncho has come back in style with lots of variations on the classic theme. One of our favourites is the Easy Folded Poncho by Churchmouse. Knit using Blue Sky Alpaca's Melange or Rowan Felted Tweed, this pattern is easy to knit, easy to finish, and easy to throw on; it's like an elegant sweatshirt.
Or, get cozy this winter with a slouchy textured cowl. Dolinar, featured in West Knits Book Two, is worked with stockinette stitch cables and bordered by ribbing to create an easy circular accessory. Suggested yarn is Rowan Lima. |
