August 2011 Newsletter
Feature of the Month - New Rowan

This is our favourite time of the year as new products are arriving daily!

In particular, new fall yarns and books from Rowan have already arrived.  Finelace, which is a mixture of baby suri alpaca and fine merino wool, is exquisite for lace lovers. New rowan tweed and colourspun have featured patterns in Nordic Tweed, a beautiful book containing 21 designs for women. And, creative focus worsted, a 20 stitch gauge wool/alpaca blend is perfect for warm and cozy sweaters. All of these yarns are available in a wide range of stunning colours.

In addition to Nordic Tweed, also just in are Rowan Knitting/Crochet Magazine Number 50 and for sculptural and structured knitwear patterns, Evolution is a must see.
Always Something New

In addition to all the new Rowan we are really excited to carry the latest Techno yarn by Blue Sky Alpaca.  This all natural yarn is a mixture of baby alpaca, extra fine merino and silk, and knits up to a 12 - 20 stitch gauge.

By popular demand we now also carry Alafosslopi yarn, a bulky Icelandic pure wool yarn that knits up super fast.  This is a unique wool that comes in beautiful natural colours and is bound to keep you warm and toasty.  Lopi 30 is a pattern book that features this yarn and contains a tremendous variety of projects for young and old.

For knitting ideas Knitscene Fall 2011 magazine is full of great projects for shawls, hats, cardis and more.

If you don't already follow us on facebook, it is a great way to keep up to date on all the fun new products that are arriving daily!

Project Ideas

Blue Sky's Cafe Beret pattern featured on the right is fun and funky and

provides an opportunity to try out the new Techno yarn.

Another great project idea is Sjon, a traditional Icelandic boys and mens sweater pattern, knit using the Alafosslopi.

For a fashionable and flattering women's sweater, a new favourite is Maeva, featured in Rowan's Nordic Tweed book, and knit using colourspun and kid classic.

For other great project ideas, we also now carry a large selection of the very popular Churchmouse Yarns patterns.
