Feature of the Month -  Fun in the Sun Kits

Heading off on summer holidays and can't think of a project to take along?  We have a large selection of kits that are perfect for having fun in the sun.  From Knitwhits we have the Ripley Hat and the Marit Purse.  Great options from Pick Up Sticks include Flora Dolls, Snuglets, a Coin Purse, and a Felted Ripple Tote For those of you who love socks, the Little Can of Paint by Lorna's Laces contains her exquisite Shepherd Sock yarn and a basic sock pattern.

Other great kits include: a super-cute crochet kit which contains everything you  need to make Melody the KittenRufus, a sock puppet ornament by Knit Purl that's sure to make you smile; or Alexa's Canadian Headband kit.  And, for those of you who are interested in felting, Artfelt and Wool Pets kits are great for any age.
Always Something New

Debbie Bliss's new Bella yarn, a cotton/silk/cashmere blend available in a wide selection of colours is perfect for summer knits.  Accompanying pattern support is available in her Bella book featuring the stunning floral bolero on the cover, a cricket cardigan, a moss stitch and cable cardigan and more.  Also by Debbie Bliss, Beach Belles contains a collection of six knits designed to flatter "real women" with shapes that create waists or skim over hips.  And, Eco Family, which contains nine relaxed knits for friends and family using Eco Aran and Eco Baby fair trade organic cotton.

Looking for something that is as comfortable as your favourite pair of jeans?  New Riveting yarn by Kollage is made from 100% recycled jeans and knits up beautifully!

Three new fabulous books by Kim Hargreaves are also just in, all complete with 21 exquisite designs.  First up is Whisper,  in which the patterns focus on minimal simplicity merging with an edgy style. Shades of black and white offer a sharp contrast to pretty feminine design.  Next is Amber, with designs focusing on winter gatherings, from cosy and snug to sleek and elegant. And, last but not least, Cherished, where deep textures and soft femininity blend with masculine lines.  Our favourite pattern in this book is Ford, a classic belted trench coat with epaulets.

And, Vogue Knitting Early Fall magazine has arrived featuring loads of red hot knits and magical mohair contest winners.  To complement the mohair trend, we have also just received a large shipment of Rowan Kidsilk Haze in a wide assortment of colours.

Project Ideas

Piega, knit with Shibui's Baby Alpaca and Silk Cloud yarns, creates a rich braided cowl, so soft you'll never want to take it off.

'Tis the season for babies and if you want a beautiful baby blanket pattern Hmmm....art! is a perfect choice.  Knit using Louisa Harding's Kashmir Baby, any young one will be mesmerized by this pattern.

For a cosy, lacy, crochet scarf, Clarity, featured in Cherished by Kim Hargreaves and knit using Rowan's Alpaca Cotton, is perfect for beginners.  A great project to take to the cabin to be ready to wear for those late summer, early fall eveninings.
