June 2011 Newsletter
Feature of the Month -  Namaste

Animal friendly, easy to clean, durable, and yet, fashionable and functional.  What more can you ask for?  We love this company for their wide variety of knitting and crafting gear and their great sense of colour.  The latest addition is the Bitty Bag, which is super fun, with it's funky interior coated canvas print.  We recently received a huge shipment of these new bags and a variety of other Namaste products including loads of purses, circular and buddy cases, and Oh Snap pouches.

Namaste: For those that believe in coordinated organization. Enjoy!
Always Something New
  • Needle felting kits by Wool Pets include everything required to make furry creatures including bunnies, sheep, cats, hummingbirds, orcas, mice, and more.  For young and old alike, these kits would make for a great party event.  Bunny samples are available for viewing at our Point Grey location.  Amanda is determined to make a mobile with a variety of these fun creatures!
  • A selection of Offhand Design bags have arrived with more due any day.  This may be the last shipment we will be able to receive, so if you have always wanted one of these bags, now is the time.
  • A new yarn by Alchemy, Kozmos, is an unusually exquisite blend of silk, mohair, wool, and cotton.  This hand-painted yarn is available in a wide range of colours and knits up beautifully.
  • Bubble Balls from Be Sweet, a handspun and hand-dyed, merino baby weight yarn strung with 25 colourful felted balls.  Perfect for embellishing a project or for creating your own masterpiece. Two lovely cowl patterns using this yarn are the Bobbles and Bumps Cowl and the Bubble Bawl Cowl available on Ravelry.
  • Interweave recently released it's very first special edition publication, Knit and Spin, 2011.  Knitters and spinners of all levels will appreciate the tips, tricks and exciting projects contained in this magazine.
  • A sampling of our new books includes Loop-d-Loop Lace, Norwegian Knitting Designs, and Knits That Fit.

Project Ideas

Oink, is a Spud and Chloe free pattern for the cutest flying pig you've ever seen.  Amanda has already made three. If only pigs could fly!

Go Canucks Go!  For all of us Canucks fans, here is the perfect pattern to support our team.  This scarf would look great knit up in Cascade 220.

If you're looking for a stunning shawl pattern for summer, Ella is a great choice.  Knit using only 3 skeins of Kidlin, this shawl in white would be perfect for a wedding.  A sample of this pattern is available for viewing at our Point Grey location.
