Urban Yarns Point Grey has Moved!
There's Always Something New at Urban Yarns, and our incredibly exciting news this month is that Urban Yarns Point Grey location has moved! The new store is only four doors up the block at 4437 West 10th Avenue, and we think you will be as excited as we are about our new location. It has more space, a cozy loft with a view of the mountains, and most importantly, a greater selection of yarns and other products.
To celebrate, we hope you can join us for our Grand Opening on Friday, May 14th, from 10:00-9:00. Throughout the day there will be giveaways and goodies that you won't want to miss! |

Feature of the Month - Classic Elite
Knitters of all levels and interest love Classic Elite due to the wonderful variety of yarns they provide. We recently brought in one of their new yarns, Giselle, which is a mohair, wool, and nylon blend, perfect for spring shawls and scarves. In addition, we have a variety of new colours in Fresco, Classic Linen, Soft Linen, Firefly, and Silky Alpaca Lace. To support this line, we also have loads of new magazines and patterns that feature these yarns. Lots of great ideas for Mom! |

Project Ideas
This month our project ideas include favourite sweater patterns for cool, summer evenings.
The Side Impact Sweater by Kira K Designs has a flattering shape with lovely lace panels on the sides and sleeves, giving it a dramatic impact from any angle. This sweater looks beautiful knit up in Classic Elite Soft Linen DK but any DK yarn can be used.
Kate Jackson Knits, Presto Cardigan, is another great versatile sweater pattern that can be dressed up or down by using different buttons or shawl pins to fasten. Numerous yarns can also be used to knit this sweater, one favourite being Queensland Collection Kathmandu Aran.
Knitbot's Lightweight Pullover, using Classic Elite Fresco, is simple, yet classy; another perfect sweater pattern for summer evenings. |

Community Corner
As mentioned in previous newsletters, Urban Yarns has put together a team to participate in The Ride To Conquer Cancer in June. We now have 22 members, have raised over $54,000, and are currently ranked 8th in our team fundraising efforts!
Our car wash and bake sale were both a huge success and we thank everyone for their support. Our next fundraiser will be a Silent Auction held in our Point Grey location beginning Monday, May 24th. We invite you to visit the store throughout the week to view the wonderful selection of items that have been donated, and place your bids. The Grand Finale will be on Friday, May 28th from 7-9. Appies and refreshements will be provided. The auction will close at 9 o'clock. Up until that time, bids will be accepted in person and by phone.
Donations for auction items are still welcome and greatly appreciated.
Thank you to everyone for all of your support! |
