Greetings!
Thanks to all of you who have read and commented on our past issues of the Red Baron PIREP Newsletter.
We'd like to thank all of our friends who visited Red Baron Aviation on International Learn to Fly Day May 15th.  It was a great success for Red Baron and for General Aviation.  Thanks to our friends from the EAA for their help and participation!

Check out our Pilot Refresher Classes we have scheduled in June. This is a great way to hone your skills, stay informed and learn from other pilots.

Please let me know if you have any subject, class or seminar suggestions for future Red Baron PIREP editions.

Thanks and Best to You All,
Peggy Redmond

International Learn to Fly Day at Red Baron Aviation
Despite Low Clouds, a Large Crowd Enjoys a Great Day at the Airport

LEARN TO FLY DAY 1              learn to fly day 2
Saturday May 15th was International Learn to Fly Day.
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in 2009 launched a new program targeted at promoting general aviation and increasing the pilot population.  International Learn to Fly Day is meant to raise interest in flying and encourage current pilots to get others involved in aviation.

With a lot of hard work from the Red Baron staff and friends, we had a very successful event.  "Chef" Dutch Holland with some help from Kevin, cooked up hamburgers, hot dogs and BBQ'd shallots to the delight of our guests. Mike cooked up some yummy ribs, Peggy put together some incredible salads and Dennis brought by a big chocolate cake.

People interested in information about learning to fly viewed Cessna's video, tried the Cessna interactive online ground school, demo the Frasca simulator,  toured Red Baron Flight School and registered to win one of our door prizes.  The "Marine Layer" kept our VFR pilots grounded for the first part of the day, but by noon the sky started clearing.  At 2pm we held our drawing for a Cessna Private Pilot Kit with $500.00 of lessons.  Two Discovery Flights were given away in our American Champion Decathlon.  Alicia Freeman was our first winner and took her flight that day to do some aerobatics!   What Fun!

We'd like to congratulate all of our winners and thank everyone who attended and enjoyed all the festivities.
Remember; every day is a great day to mentor someone interested in becoming a pilot.
