St. David's HealthCare to open emergency care facility at Stone Hill Town Center
St. David's HealthCare is scheduled to open Pflugerville's first full-service emergency care facility in early 2012. The freestanding emergency department (ED) will be located in Stone Hill Town Center at the southwest corner of SH 45 and SH 130. The emergency care facility will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians affiliated with St. David's HealthCare. The ED will have 12 treatment beds and offer advanced testing capabilities, including radiological testing and a medical lab.
Freestanding EDs are full-service emergency departments that do not have attached inpatient facilities. The ED in Pflugerville was designed to meet the growing need for medical services in the community.

Patients requiring inpatient care will be transported from the freestanding ED to area hospitals. The ED in Pflugerville will serve as an extension of St. David's North Austin Medical Center, located off North Mopac Expressway near Parmer Lane.

National Scooter Company relocates global headquarters, brings 100+ jobs to Pflugerville
National Scooter Company Inc., which designs, develops, manufactures, sells and distributes a multi-line of gas and electric vehicles, relocated its global headquarters to Pflugerville in July. The company is expected to hire more than 100 employees within three years.
Dealerships across the country will soon be selling National Scooter Company's gas and electric bicycles, scooters, motorcycles and cars that are designed and manufactured in Pflugerville. The company's line of electric vehicles will be sold under the Austin Electric Vehicles brand.
The president and CEO of National Scooter Company, Greg James, said Central Texas is an ideal market because the region as a whole is an early adopter of green products and tends to embrace a green lifestyle. He noted that he specifically selected Pflugerville for several reasons, including:
- Triple Freeport exemption, which gives businesses who assemble, process, manufacture or store certain goods an exemption from paying county, school district and city taxes if the goods are shipped out of the state within 175 days;
- Location in Central Texas with immediate access to major highways, and quick access to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and some of the nation's largest sea ports;
- Skilled, educated and available workforce.
National Scooter Company's global headquarters, manufacturing, design and engineering, distribution and shipping, as well as a factory retail store will be located at Springbrook II Business Park, 1950 Picadilly Drive in Pflugerville.
