CAST introduced in the Pueblo of Laguna, NM

The Pueblo of Laguna, NM hosted a CAST Teacher/Facilitator Training in July 2011, with the goal of  implementing CAST in Laguna Acoma High School in January 2011. Their CAST Program is funded by a grant from OPTUM Health New Mexico. We look forward to hearing how it's going, once the Laguna teachers get rolling on CAST.  They were a rewarding bunch to work with and have lots of enthusiasm for helping their youth!

Meet some of the RY Inc. team!
Merridy RuggieroMerridy Ruggiero, Office Services
I began contracting with RY Inc. in 2007. Before that, I worked for 3 years at the University of Washington, collecting data for the Reconnecting Youth Prevention Research Program, in the School of Nursing. I answer calls and emails and set up all RY and CAST trainings. I love RY because it supports teens and families in their communities. In my spare time I enjoy reading, running, and chasing after my two busy boys!  This is a picture of me with my oldest boy, Zachary.

Karen Dwyer
I began providing bookkeeping services to RY Inc. in the summer of 2009. I also do the bookkeeping for a number of other businesses in the region. Similar to my other clients, RY has me take responsibility for the day-to-day finances of the company. In my spare time I like to travel, attend college football games, read and spend time at Hood Canal. This picture is from a recent trip to Hawaii with my husband, Steve. We have one grown son.

In 2008, I began contracting with Reconnecting Youth Inc. because I was asked by the President and program developer, Leona (Lee) Eggert to assist with writing a grant application. I said yes because I admire Lee and feel compelled to help schools and community agencies acquire the RY prevention programs for their adolescents.  I am available to RY and their clients for grant-writing assistance, funding advice and support.  When I am not working, I relax with friends and our puppy and by singing, swimming, reading, baking and watching movies.

Beth McNamara
I worked for nearly 10 years with the Reconnecting Youth research team at  the University of Washington, where I became intimately familiar with both RY and CAST.  I now contract with RY Inc. to provide training services to clients who purchase the RY prevention programs.  I most enjoy interacting with RY Inc.'s clients, supporting the implementation of RY and CAST. This is a picture of my daughter and me on her first birthday, this summer!

Our Contracted Trainers
Reconnecting Youth Inc. also contracts with trainers in Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Maine and New York, all of whom are available to train nationally and internationally. RY Inc. trainers receive extensive preparation by our program developers and our lead trainers and spend years advancing their skills. Testimonials (go to Effectiveness/Testimonials) reflect the ability of our trainers to impart large amounts of useful information in an engaging and memorable way.
