Almost all funding agencies now require their grantees to use evidence-based programs. The primary resource for schools, communities and agencies looking for such programs is NREPP (National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices). NREPP is a service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Visit the links below to read our terrific program reviews on NREPP.

CAST (Coping and Support Training) is a 12-session prevention program for middle and high school-aged youth that delivers life-skills training and social support in a small-group format (6-8 students per group) and can be delivered in a school or outside agency. CAST targets three overall goals: increased mood management, improved school performance, and decreased drug involvement. Read more about CAST on NREPP...

Reconnecting Youth: A Peer Group Approach to Building Life Skills (RY) is designed for high school and middle school students who demonstrate poor school achievement and a high potential for school dropout.  This semester-long, for-credit class uses small group skills training and positive peer and adult support to build resiliency against risk factors related to substance abuse and emotional distress.
