Spotlight on OPR

March 29, 2010

Greetings!

Oncology Physician Resource (OPR) and Abraxis BioScience present a business forum titled: The Sustainability Manifesto for Community Oncology.  The objective of the one day program is to understand the current oncology landscape and to identify market indicators in order to develop additional strategies for sustainability.   We are embracing a sustainability manifesto concept for this forum, and our sessions are focused on tangible solutions to answer the question, "What principles and business efficiencies are essential to a well-functioning community oncology practice?"

No single solution exists but there are many interrelated strategies that may streamline a practice workflow and support long and short term fiscal goals.  The fundamental principles for a successful oncology practice continue to focus on quality patient care, cost control measures, increased revenue, and improved organization efficiency. But this is a critical juncture in the business life-cycle of community-based oncology practices and cancer centers.  The old ways of doing business may no longer be viable.

Community oncology must be preserved, and the principles of quality and accessible cancer care is our manifesto. OPR has convened a diverse faculty to spotlight emerging managed care, hospital, provider, and specialty pharmacy paradigms that may serve as models for future success and provide a forum for the exchange of collective experiences.
