Inventory Control with Pegasus Oncology |
|
Minimum / Maximum Order Quantities (Really?)
|
|
The designers of Pegasus Oncology have 20+ years in inventory control and management from the manufacturing industry. This allowed the designers with OPR members to define the criteria needed to allow for full control of and projections of future medications. At the push of a button our members can determine how much of each medication is required on a daily, weekly or even monthly.
Each item assigned to a patients order is projected out for future needs. At a push of the button a detailed summary of medications by day is produced. Each item can be selected to produce a list of patients receiving that medication. No more digging through charts to locate the patients receiving a specific drug on a specific day.
SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:

Inventory Control
The Inventory system provides true control of the inventory. All documentation associated with a drug such as reaction procedures is maintained in the inventory system for single click access throughout the application when the information is needed.
Each inventory item can be researched for utilization to determine who is getting the drug on a specific date or range of dates.
Each inventory item can be researched to determine each patient scheduled to receive the medication within a given date range. This provides instant access for potential shortages. SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:

Pathways Management with Pegasus Oncology |
|
Managing Initiatives (Are they worth it?)
|
|
The one key truth with the Pathways, PQRI and E-prescribe initiatives is the determination of whether your practice is in compliance occurs "After-the-Fact". With the OPRTech tools, the patients are identified at the time the order is assigned eliminating the guess work. No more working towards compliance only to find out you came up short.
Pathway Management with the Protocol Manager
The protocol manager window of Pegasus Oncology provides among many features the ability to identify the Qualified protocols by indication for your patients.

QOPI Management with the Protocol Manager
The Protocol Manger tools has been invaluable for minimizing the time required for QOPI initiatives. One of our biggest fears is taking the time to research and reveal charts required for QOPI. The Patient Filter allows the user to dynamic drill down in charts by a variety of parameters. PegasusEMR has been excellent at providing the increased number of parameters for QOPI reviews.
The patient filter allows the practice to build the list of charts in the precise order of the QOPI guidelines. The practice can then save these parameters for future use or print the list out for QOPI auditors. SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:

Chemotherapy Management with Pegasus Oncology |
A Start to Meaningful use in Oncology |
|
As confusing as times are regarding meaningful use, the industry has no standard for oncology EMRs. OPRTech with PegasusEMR has demonstrated with OPR members the ability to provide meaningful use data in the chemotherapy management area. OPR has proven the ability to provide data through QOPI and Pathway projects demonstrating the meaningful use of EMRs for oncology.
A Meaningful Use View
Oncology practices see patients 10-20 times more than any other specialty. The most important data for our use is the chemotherapy treatment history as well as future. With OPRTech a simple concise view gives the oncologist full and immediate access to treatment history.
Each key area defined by the HITECH act is addressed on a single providers view of the patient. A full treatment history, Allergies, Medical Conditions as well as Treatment Summaries can be accessed immediately by the provider. With a single click, the provider has instant access to the patients flow sheet (MAR) data.
SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:
Treatment History at a glance
Pegasus Oncology provides a highly interactive flow sheet for provider flexibility. A simple click allows the user to view all administered medications, lab results with/without administered drugs, Vitals, Administered Location (Offsite, Onsite), Reactions, Notes and future treatment notes.
The flow sheet allows the provider to click any day or item to drill down into the administration record for that day. SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW.
Administration Record
Administration standards allow practices to control the data being capture to ensure all data is captured for Pathway or QOPI requirements at the time the treatment is administered. SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:

Chemotherapy Billing with Pegasus Oncology |
Chemotherapy Billing |
|
Chemotherapy billing is one of highest risk area for potential lost revenue. The Pegasus Oncology module dynamically determines the administration codes based on the actual times entered during administration. Chemotherapy billers are worth their weight in gold. Many billers spend 70-80% effort on reviewing administration codes and J-Code units. This time is better allocated to other areas of revenue management. Let your the computer determine the administration codes the same way every time.
Administration time is entered and cross checked with standard times to ensure the time is not too short or excessive for the current medication.
Detailed notes to justify hydration or reaction times are captured.
SEE DATABASE SAMPLE BELOW:
Administration codes are not handled by nursing or predefined kits that do not allow for flexibility. Nurses focus on the patient and administration while letting the system focus on the controls and edits.
Administration codes are calculated the same way every time.

Procedure Analysis
Pegasus Oncology provides a full featured billing system that identifies discrepancies in reimbursement between insurance carriers. This instant access at the time of reimbursement means a practice can address the issues immediately before the potential losses grow too extensive.
Financial Classes allow a practice to drill down into the reimbursements to compare insurance reimbursement to internal costs as well as baseline classes.
