June Program Luncheon & RPA Recognition to Feature Olympic Gold Medalist Jason Lezak

Please join us on June 9th at the Blackstone Hotel (626 S. Michigan Ave.) as we welcome Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Jason Lezak. Lezak is best known for anchoring the US men's 400-meter freestyle relay team in the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing--stealing the Gold from the French. He also dominated the last leg of the 4 x 100 Men's Medley Relay, winning the Gold for his team and securing Michael Phelps' record 8th Gold medal.
His talk will center on maintaining a work-life balance, teamwork, leadership and dedication and commitment through adversity.
All recent (past 3 years) RPA designees will be recognized at this event and will be offered a half-price ticket.
550 West Washington (Jones Lang LaSalle), 191 N. Wacker (Manulife Financial), and the Aon Center (Jones Lang LaSalle) will each be recognized for their 2010 Regional TOBY wins.

Flags to Fly at Half-Staff Until Friday

Governor Quinn has ordered US flag in Illinois to half-staff from sunrise Tuesday, May 25 through sunset Thursday, May 27, 2010, in honor of Firefighter Kurt Meusel. Flags will remain at half-staff through sunset Friday, May 28, 2010, in honor of Police Officer Thomas Wortham IV.
 
To recap...all flags should be lowered starting today--Tuesday--and will remain down until sunset Friday.

Now that the Blackhawks have reached the Stanley Cup Finals, there's still time to show your building's support by lighting up red for the Finals. If you're able to light up your building for the Finals, please email Matt Smith at BOMA/Chicago so your building can be recognized. 
 

Emerging Leaders Network Launches Ambassador Program

BOMA/Chicago is pleased to announce the launch of it Emerging Leaders Ambassador program. This new program will engage BOMA/Chicago's Emerging Leaders in Committees via special assignments, and to provide leadership opportunities for Emerging Leaders.

 

The BOMA/Chicago Ambassador program will provide Emerging Leaders with a unique leadership opportunity within BOMA/Chicago. While any Emerging Leader can apply to serve on a BOMA/Chicago Committee, the Emerging Leader Ambassador will have a different role. The Ambassador will be responsible for providing a report to the Emerging Leaders Subcommittee via email once every other month on the activities of that Committee, and will also be responsible as acting as a liaison between that Committee and the Emerging Leaders Subcommittee.

Asset Management Course Begins June 3

Today's property managers work hand-in-hand with asset managers and often serve as asset managers themselves. Expert education gives professionals the capability to build value in real estate assets, providing confidence to investors, owners, and building tenants. Make sense of your assets, discover the asset manager's role, function and place in real estate and business, and master the ability to outperform competitors.
 
This elective RPA and FMA course is scheduled June 3, 10 17, 24 July 1, 8, 2010. The course will  be held from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the third floor conference center of the Ralph H. June 1st Deadline for BOMA International's Second Quarter "360 Performance Program"

BOMA International is pleased to announce the development of the BOMA 360 Performance Program, a groundbreaking new program designed to validate and recognize commercial properties that demonstrate best practices in all major areas of building operations and management. A BOMA 360 Performance Building designates that a property is being managed to the highest standards of excellence. 
 
Applications are accepted daily.The designation is conferred quarterly. The next deadline for applications is June 1, 2010 to be considered for the second quarter 2010 class of designees.
