Elevator Inspection Company Survey Results Are Now Available

BOMA/Chicago has completed a survey of the licensed elevator inspection companies that are listed with the City of Chicago Annual Inspection Certification (AIC) Program. Although the list provides 35 companies who are licensed inspection companies with the State of Illinois, not all indicated an interest in participating in the Chicago AIC program. Seventeen companies responded to the BOMA/Chicago survey which was intended to give building members some comparative data and information on companies that are interested in providing third party inspection services as part of the AIC program. The results are available at at the BOMA/Chicago website. Buildings who are interested in seeing the actual survey from any individual respondent can contact Ron Tabaczynski at rtabaczynski@bomachicago.org.
BOMA/Chicago is also still interested in hearing from buildings about issues that they are experiencing with the AIC program. These issues will be discussed with the Department of Buildings. Concerns, problems and comments should also be sent to Ron Tabaczynski at rtabaczynski@bomachicago.org with AIC Program Feedback in the subject line. Buildings that need to contact the Department are asked to do so only by email at AIC@cityofchicago.org. The City is using a tracking system for AIC inquiries and responses and this is the only means that they will address AIC issues. |

ComEd to Address Vault Access
ComEd is asking BOMA/Chicago to remind members of the need for ComEd to access electrical equipment in their buildings. Many BOMA/Chicago member locations contain locked electrical facilities that require periodic access by ComEd personnel to perform planned maintenance and inspections, system investment and upgrades and to support special customer requests.
ComEd provides BOMA/Chicago members with advance notification of planned work and can coordinate access directly with property owners. Access to electrical facilities is essential to ensure safety and strong system reliability performance.
BOMA/Chicago members with questions about their electrical service, or granting facility access to ComEd personnel, should call 1-800-EDISON-1 to speak with a customer service representative or visit ComEd Customer Service. For more information about ComEd access to customer facilities visit www.comed.com/rates.
On March 3rd, ComEd will present a brown bag session on vault access issues, including building notification and coordination. The session will be held at the Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building, 77 W. Jackson, Room 328 at 12:00 Noon. The event is free for BOMA/Chicago members but advanced registration is required. To register, send an email to info@bomachicago.org with "ComEd Vault Access Presentation" in the subject line. ComEd will also be discussing the upcoming Energy Efficiency Expo to be held in May. |
