The cooling towers located on the 74^th floor of Water Tower Place supply air conditioning to all components of the building including the Shopping Center, Professional Suites, The Ritz Carton Hotel, and the Condominiums at 180 East Pearson.  The equipment is more than 30 years old and has surpassed its life expectancy.  We will install new cooling towers via helicopter on Saturday January 23, 2010 from 8 a.m. - Noon.  Should weather conditions prohibit the lift from taking place on Saturday, a reserve date of Sunday January 24^th from 8AM to Noon has been approved by the city.  To comply with FAA and city requirements, the following streets surrounding the project area will be closed and evacuated during the lift: 

• Pearson Street between Michigan Avenue and Inner Lake Shore Drive
• Chicago Avenue between Michigan Avenue and Inner Lake Shore Drive
• Chestnut Street between Michigan Avenue and Meis Van Der Rohe Way
• Meis Van Der Rohe Way between Chicago Avenue and Chestnut Street

Please note:  Michigan Avenue will NOT be closed.

We have obtained all necessary permits and are working closely on coordination of this project with all city entities including the Alderman's office, CPD, CFD, and CDOT.  We have communicated with our neighbors in addition to the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association (GNMAA) and the Streeterville Organization of Active Residents (SOAR).  We wanted to make sure that BOMA Chicago is aware of the project as well.
