Update from Assessment Committee
Campus Wide Learning Outcomes: The utilization of learning outcomes at Wallace State is becoming second nature. Health programs, technical programs and general education divisions have identified specific courses that measure the campus wide learning outcomes. Each degreed area of study now can point to specific courses in which the outcome is embedded multiple times and show how it is measured within each individual course.
Learning Outcomes & SPOL:Training in entering the results from learning outcomes into SPOL is going well. Most of the departments have entered their results from spring semester. Dr. Rebecca Reeves has spear-headed the training in SPOL. If anyone has questions or concerns please contact Rebecca, Mary Mayo or Teresa Ray-Connell. We are available to help you. Thanks to all who are working so hard in this endeavor. The result will be greater student learning.
Closing the Loop: Remember, it is not just measuring the outcome that is important, but evaluating the results. Each division is asked to review their results from spring semester and identify any points of concern. Any areas of improvement are under the consideration by the department or division. Planning and Assessment days are to be employed for this endeavor and are already scheduled for fall semester. SPOL/LO training will be offered on some of those scheduled days. Remember: Outcome assessment is an on-going, not episodic process.
