Update from Student Services
The summer season has officially hit our calendars but the summer semester at WSCC has been in full swing for almost a month now.  How time flies!  Enrollment has increased over previous summers, and we welcome new faces and those returning to be a part of our growing student body.  These are exciting times on campus as we finish out one academic year and begin to usher in a new one.  As we continue with summer semester, Lions Pride events have already begun for those new students joining us in the fall, health applications are being reviewed for fall program startups, and orientations and events are planned in preparation for the same.  We also are responding to construction demands and probable relocations of departments, so there is plenty of planning going on currently for our students.  We strive for a seamless transition and to help students navigate their college goals as easily and efficiently as possible.  For Student Services, this is the busiest time of year but it is also a time to be reminded that excellence abounds at Wallace State as we review our planning and processes for the coming year.  We, along with the other divisions, strive to provide a great environment for students to learn, lead and grow.  We are Wallace State!

Fast Facts
Newly released government figures show that freshman (college) enrollment surged 6% in 2008 to a record 2.6 million, mostly due to rising minority enrollment. That is the highest increase since 1968 during the height of the Vietnam War, when young adults who attended college could avoid the military draft.  (Source)
