Fast Facts
Over the last two business cycles (between 1989 and 2007), an average of 47.8% of 16-24-year-olds were both enrolled in school and employed. When looking at college students only, this number jumps to 58.0%. In short, most students are workers too-whether to finance education, save for additional education, or cover living expenses. Given that both higher education costs and the financial burdens of students are growing, students are not insulated from downturns in the labor market; instead their problems are often amplified by them. (Source: www.epi.org) Adjusted Work Hours The College will maintain the standard eight-hour day (closing at 4:00 p.m. on Friday) this week. We will also observe these same hours during the week of July 5 - 9. The four-day work week will begin on Monday, June 7. If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor. Congratulations Congratulations to our Welding program for successfully completing and being recommended for accreditation through the American Welding Society (AWS). Student Success Stories We're interested in student success stories any time of year, not just at graduation. If you know a student we should highlight, please share. Just reply to this email or send to Kristen Holmes.

Local Dialing Changes
Effective June 5, you will be required to dial 10 digits for all local calls. The telephone numbers will not change except that you will need to dial 256 prior to any local number. For example, to dial locally, you would dial 92563528000 where previously you would only have to dial 93528000. Additionally, we now have another area code for our local area. This new area code is 938 which will be assigned only to new numbers in the area. Current numbers will NOT change. The dialing rules within our college's phone system have changed to allow us to use either the 7 digit or the 10 digit dial until June 5, 2010, when the 7 digit dialing rules will no longer work.
Please contact Bruce Tenison at x8149 with any questions.
