Division Update - Health Sciences
Self-study is a word that strikes fear and trepidation in the hearts of both young and old in the health sciences. It's a necessary evil that all accredited health science programs have to endure. It's a word that I've heard over and over in the past few weeks. Currently we have several programs that are wrestling with the self-study process. Lisa Tarvin, our new PSG/END program director, has just made application to begin her program's self-study process. Jamie Bailey and Jim Malone have submitted their first self-study for the Diagnostic Imaging program. I'm sure folks across the campus heard their collective cheer on April 1st! Even experienced program directors are not exempt from the process. Denise Elliott and Barbara Adams have recently submitted responses to their fall accreditation site visits. Julie Welch is currently in the enviable "sweet spot". She just received notification of full accreditation for the CLT program through 2017. Still others have deadlines looming. Donna Stanley has a gap analysis due in June for her Medical Transcription program, Jennifer Ivey has a July deadline for her EMS self-study, and Paul Taylor has an August deadline for his Respiratory Therapy Program's self-study. Another nameless individual even reported that she had only wished that her accreditation had been granted for an additional year so that retirement would have taken her out before she had another self-study due! Self-study ...it's a powerful word. -Lisa German
