"The RAISE the ROOF for Haiti campaign will raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Haiti, a program that has been building sturdy, small homes in Haiti for the past quarter-century," the chancellor said. "We are inviting employees, students and partners of all our institutions and the Department of Postsecondary Education to participate in this campaign."
For more information, click on the Raise the Roof for Haiti link on the WSCC homepage.
Division Update - Student Services
As we reach just beyond the mid-point of spring semester, it is time to be reassessing our goals for this semester. Spring Break is March 22 through March 26, and then we will have only six weeks left in the semester. Hopefully, during this time, we are beginning to put winter weather behind us and experiencing the splendor of nature around us as warmer temperatures make their appearance. However, also during this time, it is a great opportunity for students to evaluate progress with grades, assignments, and projects in coursework so that Spring Semester 2010 is the best it can be. Our Student Services Division is doing the same as we plan and assess our progress with Honors Day recognition, scholarship signing events, graduation practice, graduation, All-Alabama competition, Earth Day celebration, launching the text messaging service, supporting club efforts for Relay for Life, adding the WSCC Bookstore to Lion Card access, Lions Pride events and other things that are to still to come this semester. We also have the fortune to currently be cheering on our men's basketball team as they compete in National competition in Kansas after winning the state title last week and to be supporting our softball, golf and baseball teams as they put themselves in the position to do the same this spring! It is a busy time for all, but it is an honor and privilege for the Student Services division to work with our student body and staff to support these goals. For this semester and beyond, we are committed to working with Wallace State students, staff, service area high schools, and our communities to provide the best educational opportunities. We are Wallace State.
