Montgomery - State Board of Education members and college presidents joined Dr. Freida Hill on Thursday to announce a system-wide effort to help rebuild Haiti.
"The RAISE the ROOF for Haiti campaign will raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Haiti, a program that has been building sturdy, small homes in Haiti for the past quarter-century," the chancellor said. "We are inviting employees, students and partners of all our institutions and the Department of Postsecondary Education to participate in this campaign."

Division Update - Institutional Advancement
Spring is a hectic time for everyone on campus. Institutional Outreach is busy working on the 2010-2011 catalog which will be available in print and online this summer. Changes to the catalog should be submitted to the appropriate Dean or Vice President. Graduation will be here before we know it! The Commencement ceremony is scheduled for May 14 at 6:00 pm. Rehearsal will be held on April 28th at 10:00 am in the Tom Drake Coliseum. Cap and gown measurement dates are March 15th & 16th from 10:00 am-5:00 pm in the Bailey Center Lobby. This year our students will wear "green'' gowns which are made of 100% post-consumerrecycled plasticbottles. This is just another part of our green initiative on campus. I want you to know that I am working to represent you out in our community as well. We are excited to participate in the Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Over the next few months our employees and students will be holding fundraising activities and participatingin the Relay for Life event on May 7th and 8th. I hope that everyone will take an active role in this campus wide project. Those interested in participating should contact me at extension 8172. The Chamber Education Committee which will hold its annual Career Awareness Fair here on campus March 18th and 19th. Many of our instructors will present the careers represented by their area. The Hanceville Business Council Sidewalk Art Show which will be held this fall. If you or someone in your family would like to show off their art talents, please contact me. This group also holds an annual Car Show on campus in August. I am also excited about the opportunity to work with the Career Paths project at Wallace State. This project will assist us in recruiting more students into our programs from area high schools and provide guidance beyond our college to their desired career. Another area that I will be concentrating on is Medical Continuing Education which will offer an increased array of topics beginning this fall. We have some interesting topics coming up in Community Education such as Beginning Golf, Advanced Computers for Seniors, Fly Fishing Basics, Latin Ballroom Dance, Watercolor Painting and Digital Photography for Seniors. Those interested in these courses may contact Mary Hall.
