Campus News & Notes 
Spring Enrollment Update 
Our current headcount at the 2nd week of early registration is 4,111 with credit hour production of 46,363.  By comparison, at this time last year we had a headcount of 3,260 with credit hour production of 37,026.  Keep up the good work!
 
Retirement Celebration
Please makes plans to attend a celebration honoring Dr. Jenny Folsom on December 15 from 2-4 p.m. in the JBC lobby.
 
Christmas Breakfast
The annual Christmas Breakfast will be held on December 18 from 8-9:30 a.m. in the Banquet Hall.  Please post appropriate signage that offices will be closed during this time.

Congratulations to the members of the First Year Gateway Initiative for winning Honorable Mention in the Curriculum and Program Innovation category of the National Council of Instructional Administrators.
 
ACCA Recap
All our presenters at ACCA did a wonderful job this year and deserve a round of applause--Donna Speaker for her presentation on PhotoShop; Dr. Kathy Buckelew, Dr. Mary Barnes, Sue Cox, and Dr. Rebecca Reeves for their presentation on leadership; and Dr. Beth Bownes-Johnson for her presentation with colleagues from System colleges on recruitment of Hispanic/Latino students.
 
Also at ACCA, congratulations to Jennifer Hill for her election as Commission on Students Vice-Chair, and to Dr. Tomesa Smith for her service during the previous year as Commission on Students Chair.
Music Department
The Music Department's Christmas Gala was a wonderful start to the holiday season with performances by the Singers, Jazz Band, Concert Choir and Concert Band.  Congratulations to Ricky Burks and the entire department for an inspiring event before a crowded house.  
 
Bookstore News

Used book buy back is scheduled for December 9-15.  The first day to use Pell/loan funds at the bookstore is December 14.
  
Trip to Greece
WSCC is planning a trip to Greece in May, 2010. The tour will depart May 20 and return May 28, with an optional three-day Greek Isle Cruise extension returning May 31. The trip is open to anyone interested. Sign up by Jan. 20 to guarantee your spot and avoid a late fee. For more information, contact Kristen Holmes (x8118).
 
Athletics Update
Congratulations to both men's and women's basketball for sweeping Ft. McPherson on Saturday with scores of 95-55 and 64-59, respectively.  The men's team hosts New Horizon Prep on Thursday at 6 p.m. and the women travel to the Pensacola Junior College Tournament beginning Friday.
 
Talking Hands Club
The Talking Hands Club will be learning Christmas Carols in sign language at the next few meetings, held every Tuesday at noon on JBC 4th floor. Contact Heather Congo (x8054) for more information.  

Poinsettias
Poinsettias are now available in the Agribusiness department for $8 and $10 each day until 2:30 p.m. while supplies last.

Wallace State Baseball Team Celebrates the Holidays at Hanceville Nursing Home
Wallace State Community College-Hanceville's baseball team spent some valuable time off campus Tuesday at the Hanceville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The team joined the HNRC'S Bell Choir and helped the patients play a medley of Christmas songs with their bells.  Full Story
 
Sigma Kappa Delta/ Freshman Faculty Luncheon
New members of the Sigma Kappa Delta at Wallace State Community College-Hanceville met Wednesday at the college's student center in an informal book discussion about Mitch Albom's critically-acclaimed book "Tuesdays with Morrie," which is serving as Wallace State's common read for the 2009-10 academic year. Full Story
