I hope your holiday was enjoyable and that your year is off to a great start! I am eagerly anticipating what 2012 has in store, as each year presents new challenges and opportunities. In this issue, we spotlight Hansen + Hill Interiors and a favorite project of theirs, a new construction built last year. It was a pleasure working on this project with them. Their eye and attention to detail is remarkable and I know you'll agree. You'll also find a sneak peak at one of our newest vignettes in our showroom featuring product from AlysEdwards.

We recently joined Twitter, so follow us for new and innovative ideas and the latest Tile Wholesalers news. In the meantime, please keep me informed and drop me a note with how we're doing; I'd love to hear from you!

Bringing Abstract Spaces into Concrete Reality

"It's not just decorating. It's design. We're the difference!"

Anita Hansen and Karen Hill are interior designers who together formed their company Hansen + Hill Interiors in 2005. Their synergy, skills, and  expertise complement each other, bringing their clients even more amazing results. They like to say getting "two heads" is always better than one! The two designers bring a wide range of knowledge to their business including building materials, textile composition, furniture construction, space planning practices, code considerations, and computer aided design (CAD) drawings. Through the use of technology, they are able to help their clients visualize their projects before they are implemented. Anita and Karen's designs have won "Best Use of Technology" and "Most Popular" awards in 2009 and 2010. Anita is a professional member of AIDP (Association of Interior Design Professionals), Past-President of the Upstate NY AIDP Chapter, and currently the Secretary of the National AIDP Board and chair of the Website Committee. Karen is an ASID Allied Member (American Society of Interior Designers). Anita became a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) through NAHB after completing the education and testing in 2010.

Master Bath Backsplash Hansen + Hill Interiors recently completed a new custom-home build in Pittsford, NY. Every component of a custom home's interior must be selected by the homeowner in accordance with the production schedule to prevent costly construction delays. Anita and Karen begin working with clients in the planning stages, along with their architect, builder and contractor, to facilitate the integration of the client's life, style, ideas, wishes, needs, and budget into the design of the project. As a team, they then develop the blueprints and specifications to create a vision of how the finished product will look and function as well as advise on the myriad of decisions that will need to be made.

For this project, Hansen + Hill Interiors was completely involved in all areas of the design process. Anita and Karen specified and recommended everything from style, moldings, hardware, cabinets, and flooring to color, furniture, lighting, and arrangement.

Back Porch

Hansen + Hill worked with Tile Wholesalers on the flooring for the mud room, 4-season back porch, and three bathrooms (powder room, master bathroom, Jack & Jill bathroom). Tile was used for the powder room shower and master bathroom walls and flooring, as well as to create beautiful backsplashes for the master bathroom sink, the Jack & Jill bathroom, and in the kitchen. This project featured natural stones from Quarry Collection, glass tile from Oceanside Glasstile and Walker Zanger and the 4-Season Porch, utilized Century Tile Darwin Series , which was featured in our summer 2010 e-newsletter.

Inspiration for this project came from the exterior Cape Cod style of the home, a timeless interior style that is reminiscent of a "Hampton's restrained-elegance", and the client's lifestyle and color/style preferences.

HHI Logo Anita and Karen find building their company an enjoyable process, from networking to helping make homes and businesses more functional and beautiful. "It's not about our style...it's about our clients...their interests, dreams, and what they really like...how they want to live and work in their own space. Our goal is to help our clients bring their abstract vision of the space they want into concrete reality, step by step, with clear visuals. And we strive to make each project a journey to be enjoyed." They feel that their Business Plan helps give them a roadmap and goals for working together, interacting with their clients, and growing the business. This same approach is used to help their clients create an overall master plan for their building or remodeling project.

What's New at TWR

 AlysEdwards

AlysEdwards Tile & Stone is notorious for their ability to fuse what's new and hot with that of classic and timeless looks. AlysEdwards Tile and Stone has strategically designed their lines to offer coordinating tile, metal and stone allowing fluid and seamless movement from one product or look to the next. Our most recent display vignette in the showroom was designed by our own Judy Hodges using products from AlysEdwards. Judy selected products from Suave, a collection of natural stones, moldings and exquisite water jet designs. She also mixed in mosaics from the Vanity Collection and paired them all with our exclusive Vida Dolce Series of high definition porcelain tile. We think you'll agree, it is very difficult to decipher the difference between the real stone and this series of tile! We invite you to stop in the showroom and see it for yourself.
