Tip of the Month
When managing a large event be sure to have all of your vendors' contact information on-hand - especially cell numbers. Most events are held after business hours, so having a vendors cell phone can save you if things don't go as planned on-site! |

President's Letter December 2011
Greetings! Happy Holidays. What a fantastic year 2011 has been and I'm so excited for 2012 and everything that ISES-NCC has to offer to you. In November, we had our first joint meeting with MPINCC at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium with over 300 attendees. What a huge success this meeting was. We had amazing panelists from both chapters that spoke of events, the RFP process and the production of the event. Thank you to Live Nation, Blue Print Studios, CORT Event Furnishings, Global Gourmet, Entire Productions and Stage II that sponsored this event to make it such a huge success. December is the month to become a member of ISES. Want to learn more or know someone that might be interested in a membership? Click here. Have you signed up to show your stuff at our Biennial Vendor Showcase at the City View in San Francisco? This is a great marketing opportunity for your company and a chance to network with more than 150 Bay Area event professionals in January 2012. Sign up here. Do you want to attend The Special Event in Tampa, FL from January 24-27, but the costs are too much? There are two different scholarship opportunities that you can apply for that can help you attend. Read below to find out more about how to apply, what's included and the deadlines that are around the corner. Don't forget to keep checking the ISES-NCC website for all the latest news and updates on upcoming programs. On a personal note, I wanted to say a big thank you to our VP of Membership, Josiline Shanahan for all her contributions to ISES-NCC over the past couple of years. At the end of the year Josiline will be moving to Minnesota and she will be truly missed. I'm excited to announce that Jaclyn Dunne will become our new VP of Membership and we are thrilled to welcome Gene Hwang of Orange Photography as our newest ISES-NCC board member. Have a wonderful holiday season and I hope you are able to be surrounded by your loved ones and have some time off before the New Year begins. Valerie Hopple President, ISES-NCC

November Meeting Recap
On November 15th, ISES-NCC and MPINCC partnered to produce, The Big Bang: How to Create and Produce Events with Impact, the first event joint meeting at the Masonic Auditorium. It was a true success in every sense of the word.
Nearly 300 event and meeting professionals turned out for what provided to be a valuable evening of education and networking.
MPI produced the first panel, Selecting and Hiring Production Companies for High-Impact Event, which was comprised of a group of power planners from the VIP Network. Kudos to Mimi Almeida, President and Co-Founder of All Performance Associates, LLC, for moderating a lively discussion between CiCi Baker, Co-Founder, The Event Corp; President of Sierra Event Company; Jan Hennessey, CMP, CMM - Conference Services Manager for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Owner, Jan Hennessey Events, LLC; Michele Snock, CS, CMM - Procurement, Meetings and Events at Salesforce.com; Principal, Wine Events Connection; Claire Jolley Stroope, Senior Manager Americas, Global Meeting Services at Oracle. The insight shared by this group of prestigious planners was invaluable.
ISES produced the second panel, Bringing the "WOW" Factor to Corporate Events. Patrick McMichael, Denon & Doyle, graciously served as our stand in moderator and kept a lively discussion on how to engage and benefit from your supplier partners when planning events. Panelists included Michael Kuhlmann, Lead Designer, Got Light?; Natasha Miller, Founder and Creative Director, Entire Productions; Paul Moss, Principal, Blueprint Studios; Pam Kanjanamarakul Perez, Director of Sales, Global Gourmet Catering; and Matt Prieshoff, COO-Nor Cal & COO California Venues, Live Nation. The point that resonated was to engage your vendors ~ they are hear to support you and make you look great! Following the panel discussion, attendees were able to mingle & networking in the Masonic Auditorium Lobby below the stunning mosaic. Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres from Global Gourmet Catering ~ we hope you had a chance to taste the mini chicken & waffles! Entire Productions delighted ambient music and lighting. Slick lounge seating was generously sponsored by CORT Event Furnishings. Draping by Stage II Productions (because what's an event with WOW with a grand reveal). And a special thanks to the Masonic Auditorium for your AV support during the panel and Blueprint Studios for your assistance with the stage set for the panelists.
