President's Letter August 2011
 Greetings!
It's been a couple of weeks, but people are still talking about how the ISES-NCC gala was a huge success. Big thanks to our Gala Chair, Ryann Sims and her whole committee for producing such a fabulous gala. The atmosphere was magical, the food and drink were divine and the dance floor was packed to guests moving and shaking. Make sure to go to the ISES-NCC website to check out photos from the gala.
The ISES-NCC board of directors are busily preparing for the rest of the year. We are all getting ready to head to St. Louis the first week of August for Eventworld. Are you going? If so, let me know. Send me an email and we would love to meet up with you under the arches.
If you haven't renewed your membership, don't forget. Our next program is coming up soon and we want to make sure you get member pricing. Speaking of our next program, make sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 20th. More information to come but it promises to be a fantastic time.
Are you wanting to get more involved with ISES but don't know how? We have five different committees with openings. From Programs and Education, to being a guest writer for our new blog to being part of the Hospitality committee. There are so many options and we would love to have you volunteer. This is a great way to network, meet new people and most all be part of a great organization. Click here to read more about all the committee opportunities.
Have a wonderful August and I hope to see you all on September 20th.

ISES-NCC Annual Gala & Silent Auction
The Other Side of Midnight...
On Tuesday, July 19th, the best and brightest of the Bay Area's special events industry professionals shone once again at the 10th Annual ISES-NCC Gala held at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco. The Other Side of Midnight...took guests on a magical journey through the Olde Grimm Fairy Tales. Blueprint Studios and reFRACTion transformed the lobby of the Reserve into the enchanted forest, complete with Trumpeters, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming, and Soundscapes. Natalie Bowen Designs and Ricardo Ramirez Floral Design completed the look with their beautiful floral accents. Guests were treated to delicious appetizers from Elaine Bell Catering, Global Gourmet Catering and Organic Chef Catering and beverages from Best Beverage Catering and Silvertap Wines, while bidding on an array of fabulous silent auction items. The fairy tale continued as guests headed into the Banking Hall, where linens from Napa Valley Linens, tabletop furnishings from Classic Party Rentals, scenic props from Method 42 Productions and lighting from Got Light? transported guests to the castle ballroom for dinner. The Naughty Minstrels kept guests entertained as they dined on a meal fit for a king and queen. The gorgeous florals were provided by Floral Ornament, Floramor Studios, Michael Daigian Design, Natalie Bowen Designs, Savage Rose and Soulflower Floral Design. A wonderful four course dinner was provided by Paula Le Duc Fine Catering, Componere Fine Catering, Small Potatoes Catering and Events and Taste Catering & Event Planning. Guests ended the evening inside the Witch's Oven for a red-hot after party. Denon & Doyle kept guests entertained with a rocking DJ and photo green screen, while La Bonne Cuisine served an array of delectable sweets. Travelin' Joe made sure their espresso kept guests partying well into the evening. Thank you to all of the generous sponsors and committee members who made this year's Gala one of the most successful to date! |

Industry Buzz
Did you know that San Francisco has a new event space available for rent? Located at 450 Alabama Street, this unique venue, available for social, corporate, nonprofit and wedding rental, is a partnership between Morgan Events and Alexis Laurent. While Morgan Doan has planned events in a wide variety of venues throughout Northern California, Laurent Studio brings something unlike traditional gallery spaces - 13,000 sq. feet of raw, open, light filled studio alive with ever-evolving works of art. Laurent Studio is the working studio space for French-born, San Francisco-based artist, Alexis Laurent and his mixed-media work and "living sculptures" inhabit, and give personality to, the impressive space. Laurent's art is often sculptural, incorporating both industrial & natural elements that compliment and enhance the space, and ground the venue to the creative spirit of San Francisco.
